Book Review: Holds Such a Place in My Heart

This NIV study Bible has been such a precious wonderful tool that God has used in my life to sanctify me with his Word. The NIV translation itself is such a smooth and easy read without going too far toward the paraphrase direction like some modern translations are prone to do. In speaking about the study notes, we must always keep in mind that they are not infallible, but in the case of this particular Bible, the notes are so utterly helpful in understanding the text. This is the primary Bible I use when conducting personal and group Bible study. I think that every Christian in the english speaking world would do good to get one of these Bibles. The NIV is an excellent translation and the study edition also has many excellent notes and summaries which assist the student of the bible at many points. The commentary is based a lot on Reformed theology, so non-Protestant Christians may find some of it disagreeable, and the other flaw from my point of view is this book omits the apocrypha. Even if not considered as part of the canon, I think I would have deeply appreciated the notes and scholarship that would be brought to bear on those interesting books.
Still, this is an excellent bible and will be of excellent use for theology students, seminarians, devotional purposes, church bible study groups and for private study.
Book Review: Bible as I have never read it before

This is the first time that I have had a study Bible, and quite frankly it is the only Bible I will use from now on. Combine a traditional Bible with in depth notes, histories, and explanations and you will have just touched the surface of what this Bible offers.
Easy to use cross referencing, a concordance and other great tools really make this Bible a steal for the money. The only upgrade I would be tempted to do would be to get one with book index tabs, I believe there is one available but I was on a budget.
All in all a fantastic resource for anyone interested in getting a little to a lot more out of their Bible reading and study.

I purchased the Zondervan NIV Study Bible a number of months ago, and I couldn't be happier. I had been looking for a bible that included maps and additional references, and this bible provided that and so much more. I especially like the notes at the bottom for almost every verse, as well as the introductory information provided at the beginning of each section.
So, for anyone looking for an updated version of the bible that is easy to follow and provides added information and references, this bible is for you.

I would recommend this Bible to anyone who has a serious desire to study the Word of God. While Zondervan boasts about its 20,000 study notes, my favorite features are the maps and diagrams, as well as the outlines at the beginning of each book.This Bible was my first NIV. I chose it because I was looking for the clarity of a modern translation, plus I needed an authentic study Bible as opposed to one that only provided reference notes (which, the reference notes in this Bible are superb also).
