Book Reviews of You've Been WarnedBook Review: Don't Bother With This One! Summary: 1 Stars
I love most of James Patterson's books and he is one of my favorite authors. Alex Cross, the Women's Murder Club, great characters and great reads for suspense and entertainment. But... he's now venturing off with other authors why, I don't know but this is the second one I've read that I was sorely disappointed. This one especially. I couldn't wait to get through it and I found myself skipping over most of it to see if there was a point to the story.
I figured the plot quite easily but was hoping for something, anything to make it worth my read. If you've seen the movie the Sixth Sense, you'll see it's a weak spin of sorts from that theory.
I love a good read but this is not one. My message to fans of James Patterson is to stick to Alex Cross and the Murder Club books and skip all of the rest and especially if he aligns himself with another author.
I wonder if Patterson's goal has moved from author to one of seeing how many books he can write and co-write?
Book Review: Awful book - lazy plot device to explain scattered story Summary: 1 Stars
I am generally a James Patterson fan. I enjoyed "Honeymoon" which had the same two authors as "You've Been Warned" - and therefore expected a good read. What an awful book! Save your money.
The story makes no sense as you read it - and then when the reader is supposedly "informed" - it's a bunch of para-psychology nonsense. It's a lazy way out of a story that makes no sense. Even having finished the book I have no idea - what was a dream, what was para-psychology etc... there are so many loose ends that finishing the book left me completely aggravated.
Spoilers ahead so if you don't want to know - don't continue reading... but really between the dreams, the seeing dead people, some hotel in NY being a portal to hell, they throw in some 3 year old baby thing and never explain most of what happened in the book prior to the big "ending" - it's a mess.
Book Review: You've Been Warned, DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK! Summary: 1 Stars
This AWFUL book doesn't even deserve one star but because I'm a long-time James Patterson fan, I'm being generous. Patterson is a masterful storyteller so this book had to have been written by the 'co-author' and maybe proofread by Patterson, because this dumb drivel could never have come from JP. From now on I will never buy any Patterson book with a co-author, this is the 2nd one I immediately tossed into the trash after reading instead of passing on to friends. Finishing this truly crappy book was an ordeal but I kept hoping that somehow the story would make sense and redeem itself, but it didn't. RUN DO NOT WALK away from this book, don't waste your money, and if a friend gives you the book, do yourself a favor, use it to burn in your fireplace or throw it quickly into a landfill where hopefully it will disintegrate quickly.
Book Review: You've Been Warned- Not to Read This Disaster Summary: 1 Stars
If there were a way to give the book ZERO stars, I would have. Disappointing doesn't even beging to cover it and bad still seems to be an understatement. The only reason this book would even begin to be published is due to James Patterson. The book is wretched. There is not enough intrique for the reader to ever be drawn into the book. About half way through I was ready to give up, but I was giving it the benefit of the doubt. Wrong! The plot is non-existent, the characters are down right creepy-save the small role of the two little ones-and I can deal with creepy if it supports the plot line but, here, no such luck. The story has elements that make you think it might go somewhere-it never does. Please save your time and go somewhere else in the bookstore/library to save yourself.
Book Review: I will never touch a book by Patterson again... Summary: 1 Stars
This book has irritated me to the point that I will never read another book by James Patterson again. Granted many of my favorite authors (like my favorite actors) have created less than great work, but this book went directly into the garbage can with the rest of my trash when I was done reading it. The plot is not only predictable and far less than thrilling, but the last chapters of the book were filled with religious themes about repentance that left me wondering what sins I was being forced to repent for by reading this novel. Even worse than a dismal plot and shallow characters is feeling religious ideals thrust upon me without warning. If Amazon would allow me to give this book no stars I would.
