Book Reviews of You've Been Warned

Book Review: Patterson's speed read not what I expected!
Summary: 3 Stars

I've read a handful of Patterson books before and I can see why people don't like this book because its not in line with his usual thriller. That being said, I don't dislike it. Its supernatural twist was decent and didn't bother me. I'm not sure how co-writers work out and who does what but my biggest beef with this book is although it was nearly 400 pages, a third are blank and it can be read in a few hours. If I had bought this at full brand brand new I would have been livid. And what's with the title? Really bad choice there. Overall, an average book.

Book Review: Not as bad as the other reviews....
Summary: 3 Stars

Tremendously fast read....Typical Patterson.....I sort of liked it and felt for the main character. Another very quick and easy read, Patterson books are great on audio CD since they are short and easy to follow in the car.

Book Review: woman sees things her photos don't show
Summary: 2 Stars

I have read very few of James Patterson's books that I did not thoroughly enjoy. This one was too strange for my mind to "get into!" Yes, it is mysterious, suspenseful, lots of action, but the subject, Kristin Burns, belongs in a Looney-bin rather than in a book. I know this is my opinion but "You've Been Warned" left me wondering what I just read! I could understand the book but to take the story and try to place it into a person's life is really stretching it.

Kristin Burns is a nanny for some rich folks. Kristin loves the two children and the husband too, even though she knows he is married to his wife, the mother of the same children she loves. Kristin hopes some day to be a photographic artist where her photos will give her a great life. She carries her camera everywhere she goes. The problem is that she takes pictures of things she sees, develops the photos, and finds what she thought she saw was not on the film.

She and the father, Michael Turnbull, get together every chance they can get away from the wife, Penley, and have mad sex with each other. It gets very hard for Kristin to go on with her life without Michael and he tells her he is also in love with her. Working around the wife and the kids causes some sticky situations.

Kristin has the same dream every time she tries to sleep. The dream haunts her and also disturbs the neighbors in her apartment when she wakes up screaming from the dream. The neighbors want her to leave the building. When she does wake up, she takes a cab daily to her job, takes the kids to school, and then returns to her job some days cleaning the apartment or going out taking photos. Some of her photos were great but she keeps running into the problem of some things don't show what she knew she had seen. She also finds people following her or looking at her and saying strange things to her.

The book continues in this same mode. I thought it would change but it didn't. If you like crazy happenings and occurrences that can't be explained, you might like this book. I encourage Mr. Patterson to go back to his good writing.

Book Review: A Chore Muddling Through To a Good Ending
Summary: 2 Stars

This novel hits the ground running, then skids to a halt until the ending is presented. The middle story becomes repetitious to where I found myself scanning over the lines. The main character doesn't have a great deal of substance. The simple, whiny dialogue makes her character become annoying. The premise behind the story is very good. However, the authors cannot support it well enough through their flimsy cast of characters.
The ending will hold your attention & brings some of the story together. The ending I liked. Getting there was a chore.
I think this is my last co-authored Patterson book. I read Lifeguard last year; another fizzle. It seems he's gone with co-authors strictly for monetary reasons & has forgotten all his artistic writing of the past.
I believe the "NY Times Bestseller" tag it has earned misleads some into thinking this book is really good. It's not

Book Review: I was warned
Summary: 2 Stars

I saw the many reviews saying how awful this book was, but couldn't believe a James Patterson book could be as bad everyone said. It was. There are numerous things that happened that did not follow with the plot and made absolutely no sense. I figured they would be explained at a later point in the story and it would all make sense. They were not. They were not ever mentioned again. There were so many instances, I couldn't possibly catalog them all. This is a terrible book. There is no suspense, no logical plot and an incredibly bad ending. I was warned, and now you have been too.
