Book Reviews of You Are Special (Max Lucado's Wemmicks)Book Review: This book rates 5+++ Summary: 5 Stars
What a wonderful way to tell a child about the love Jesus has for us. This book was given to my child and I in turn have given it as gifts to many others. It tells the delightful story of Punchinello, a Wemmick, who didn't think very highly of himself until he met his maker, Eli the wood carver. Eli tells Punchinello that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of him, because Punchinello is special to Eli and it was Eli that had made him. How true of our living God, we are all special to Him because He made us.
Book Review: ThIs BoOk WiLl ShOw YoU hOw MuCh GoD lOvEs YoU!!!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
One of my all time favorite books Is you are Special. It is a very good book because it talks about how God loves us as individuals and for who you are. In the story there is this guy Ponchinello thinks that he is just a bad guy in his Creators sight. Then he meets this girl ans tells him how much their Creator loves them and that he should go and visit with him. When he does he realizes that his Creator love him vey much and that He made him in his very own way. This made Ponchinello feel very specail!!!
Book Review: A must have Summary: 5 Stars
Wemmicks, wooden people built by Eli, spend their days awarding stars and dots based on looks and abilities. The better you are, the more stars you receive. The more clumsy, the more chipped paint, the more gray dots. Punchinello feels doomed to more of the same until he meets a girl to whom no stars or dots will stick. I taught a couple special needs students whose inabilities made them feel conspicuous. This book caught their attention, and they began to discover how much they truly could do.
Book Review: A wonderful lesson for both children and adults.... Summary: 5 Stars
When reading this for an education class, I was touched by the lesson this book teaches. That we are all special, each and every one of us. I think it is beneficial for both children and adults to give this a read because as adults, we often criticize ourselves too harshly and we forget that God loves us just the way we are. It is good for children because it shows them that people different or not as talented or more talented than they are are no more or less worthy of love than they are.
Book Review: A perfect tale for any perfectionist. Summary: 5 Stars
This is a simple, yet thought-provoking, story for any believer, like me, who finds herself habitually caught in the trap of trying to be good enough. It is a sweet reminder to us of the fact that the only opinion that matters at all is that of our Maker. And while He knows exactly what we are like, in every way, His view of us is skewed by the incredible love that He has for us. I recommend this story for children and grown-ups, anyone who needs to know that it's ok to not be perfect.
