Book Review: Because even children who are violent are Special to God!

While teaching in a lower grade level class, I had a student pull a knife and threaten the rest of the class. He was sent to on campus suspension. I had no way of communicating to him that he was still special, to myself or him. This book was in a book order. I grabbed it just to have something to read to him during my break one day. He fell in love with it! He wanted me to read it to him every day. We both began to see each other in a different light. God loves us more than we can possibly fathom. This book helped this boy to know that he was lovable too. Thank you Mr. Lucado. Thank you God for loving us.Book Review: Dots and Stars for Lucado

This book is a component. It doesn't focus on the Bible's message in its entirety, but only a portion of it: That portion being that The Creator made us and loves us unconditionally. I believe this to be a wonderfully timely message for children, adults and anyone who will hear it. How priceless is the message that it really doesn't matter what everyone else thinks of us? That the only opinion that does is God's? I could use this reminder and I'm 24 years old. To those of you who condemn this book and its author... that's okay! Although this book is geared to young children, I've purchased it for very many adults and keep a copy close to read every now an then. It is a story we should all keep in mind. There are so many, many wonderful books and poems that have been written, however,this book is always at the top of my list as my favorite book. The simplicity and honesty of it wins my heart every time. My children, ages 11 and 14, both enjoy it and for the 14 year old I try to reinforce it weekly because it is a tough age and the message is so fundamental. I found this book right after my beautiful son was born and I had just been told he has Down syndrome. He spent two weeks in NICU. It was very hard to read to him then and I still get choked up reading it. The nurses in NICU thought it was just perfect. I acknowledge it is "deep" and perhaps more meaningful to someone who has a child with special needs that makes him "different". I highly recommend this book - it would be a wonderful gift for a family who is finding their way through those initial dark days. i really loved this book it has definite religous themes and i am not a religious person but thinking that someone was always there to help me made me feel really good i wanted to run out and call all of the people a know and tell them how much i love them! i have read this book to lots of small children and they loved it but it is also great for teenagers college students and adults. great messages, beautiful illustrations(some times i just go through and look at the pictures!), and a truly heart warming story highly suggested for everyone! thanks!
