Book Review: New yogi's perspective
Summary: 5 Stars
The author has the ability to provide personal life experiences (that we all have in common) to explain yoga philosopy in a way that allows a lay person or new yogi to understand and grasp immediately and apply it on/off the mat. Prior to my weekly yoga practice my knowledge of "yoga" were the common stereotypes. I had no knowlege of asana, yama, niyama, pranayama, etc. I picked up the book and began reading after the 1st month of yoga practice because my ego was on over drive despite my regular practice. The author's writings were able to explain to me why/what was coming up in my conciousness and what can be done to deal with the feelings and emotions. I am in my 3rd month of practicing yoga and have read "Yoga and the Path of the Urban Mystic" a second time. Although one of my yoga teachers said it was a book that should be read yearly, I find myself referring to the book on a regular basis when clarity and comfort is needed in my yogic journey.
