Book Reviews of World Without End

Book Review: As good as the First
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the sequel to Pillars of the Earth. It is about decendants of the Pillars characters, but it is set 200 years into the future. Kingsbridge Catheadreal still stands, and the beginning is about making repairs to the roof, but then the story goes into The Black Plauge, and describes how the characters learn how to fight it and help others through tough times. This is one of the best books that I have ever read. It has five stars from me, that is for sure.

Book Review: Even better then the 1st one
Summary: 5 Stars

Fantastic read. Compared to the first book the lines between good and evil are more blurred - which gave the characters more depth. One minor weak point in the book is the integration of the battle of Crecy into the Story - I thought this was not the strongest part of the book. However - given the length this part is only short and everything else makes you want to read every page. One of my top 5 books of all time from now on.

Book Review: Captivating
Summary: 5 Stars

Will someone please convince Ken Follett to write a sequel, set in the Renaissance? I just read this book on my Kindle (the perfect vehicle for a 1,000 page-plus novel) and now I must decompress before I can even imagine getting into another book. At times I wanted to strangle Follett for keeping Merthin and Caris apart, but I knew he would bring them back together at the end. And will someone please ask HBO to make the movie?

Book Review: A Wonderful Follow Up
Summary: 5 Stars

As others "Pillars" lovers have mentioned World Without End turns out to be what we could have only hoped - a terrific follow up to a one of the great novels ever penned. WWE actually brings the reader right back to Shiring and Kingsbridge without missing a step and the storytelling by Follett is, as in Pillars, captavating and ever so enjoyable. Could he possibly have one last one to complete a tremedous trilogy ?

Book Review: Back to "The Best of Ken Folliett"
Summary: 5 Stars

How long I have waited. If you loved "Pillars of the Earth", you have probably been waiting for this book. All Ken's books are good, and I await each one, but this is his legacy. The time, place, and characters will live on in your mind. If you love deep historical fiction, you'll be glad he wrote this sequel. Now I wish he could write another "Eye of the Needle and "Key to Rebecca" What a great novelist!
