Meredith Hall's Memoir Without a Map is a must read. The author evokes so much raw emotion and honesty without being too sentimental. Her storytelling is quick and inviting. She moves back and forth through the times in her life without leaving the reader confused. This is truly a story of heroism and strength. A true testiment to love and the human spriit and the connection between a mother and child.

I had used Hall's "Killing Chickens" in my creative nonfiction course. I loved it, so I bought this book. What a powerful life! Hall's writing is rich yet spare. It is heartbreaking at times, but ultimately beautiful.
