Book Review: accuracy please. he deserves it.

There is no such thing as an eight octave range. Even dogs can't hear that high, and on the low end you find the rumbling before an earthquake. His father had four and half octaves, and hit notes that were way out of Jeff's already admirable rangeJeff was a truly talented, intelligent and sensitive musician, though without quite the range, voice or pioneering spirit of his father, Tim. No one should have to be compared this way, but to understand Jeff, one must deal with the father issue that so many struggle with. It plagued him and kept him from being productive - so many years without letting himself let the work leave the nest. But this comparison should not have to be made. In his own right, he was a fine singer and an individualistic musician and songwriter, with the courage to try and express his gifts. Had he lived, and not been plagued by the downside of the Buckley legacy, he would have solidified his place as a beautiful, inventive musician. But please, lets be realistic and do the memory of this gifted young man a proper service.

If you're expecting a lovely picture book, then this is the book for you. It is a display of pictures, which speak a thousand words about a much missed musical virtuoso. There are snippet stories from several of his friends, but nothing too profound.
Sadly, the layers of Jeff Buckley's talent were just being revealed when he tragically died. His music is lush, contemplative, emotional and full of life. This book is a loving demonstration of his too short life.

Its a "behind the scenes" of rise of a young, talented artist. Its not too often you get to hear and see an artist's perspective of another artist.Merri was allowed to photograph Jeff when he was starting out in New York and became his exclusive photographer. The pictures are outtakes from the album artwork and live shots of Jeff in concert.
If you are a true fan of Jeff Buckley, you have to have this book.
