Book Reviews of Wisconsin Death Trip

Book Review: Disturbing, interesting read
Summary: 5 Stars

I was able to read this book in one day, and wanted more. Being a former resident of this area of Wisconsin made it even more interesting for me, but all that aside, it was one of the most intriguing books I've read in a long time. The photographs are a wonderful testament to life in that era & locale, if you're a collector of old photographs & post-mortem shots this is a great book for your library. Reading about all of the madness surrounding these people, their bizarre and sad behaviors really makes you think. The author's conclusion really draws it all together for you.

Book Review: A strange account.
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is eerily intriguing. In one small area in Wisconsin, strange things happen. There is a high death rate, a high insanity rate, and many accounts of strange happenings. This book is very interesting, and some of the pictures are rather unsettling. Michael Lesy has done a very compelling study of these people, and provides first-hand details of what went wrong in this section of Wisconsin. I highly recommend reading this disturbingly interesting book.

Book Review: Wisconsin Death Trip is a masterpiece
Summary: 5 Stars

I live in Jackson County, WI, and I find it strange that something as bizarre and twisted as this could actually happen in a town as small as BRF. The book was really interesting, and I know some of the people who are in the film Wisconsin Death Trip, which will be on Cinemax July 4. The book chronicles the deaths and strange occurances of Jackson country through newspaper articles and pictures.

Book Review: Wisconsin Death Trio
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an interesting and slightly macabre book which is strangely beautiful. My son, who is Sam Witt, the poet, told me about it because he had been so moved by it that he wrote a poem associated with it in his soon to be published book, SUNFLOWER BROTHER. The old photos are stunning from the horses to the dead children. I am hoping to get the dvd soon.

Book Review: A little corner of the world goes mad.
Summary: 5 Stars

Reading this book was like watching a ten-car pile up in slow motion. At the turn of the century, the bottom dropped out of the local economy in a rural area of Wisconsin. Soon after, local newspapers that had reported nothing more exciting than hog births begin to fill up with stories about arson, murder, madness, and infanticide. Truly creepy.
