Book Reviews of Where Is Maisy?: A Lift-the-Flap BookBook Review: A Wonderful Book for Babies Summary: 5 Stars
This is the first book I bought for my then 5-month old. I was familiar with Lucy Cousin's books from being a first grade teacher so I thought my baby would be attracted to Cousin's wonderful illustrations. I was right---he loves the book! Her simple illustrations hold his attention and her use of bold colors interests him. I have even found him looking at the words on the left-hand page. The lettering is large and bold and will be great for little ones just beginning to read. Today my baby is 7-months old and I am ordering several of Lucy Cousin's nursery rhyme books for him. Her books are the greatest!
Book Review: Fun, durable book Summary: 5 Stars
My 14-month-old son instantly loved this book when he got it for his first birthday. He loves lifting the flaps himself (which are holding up admirably under the stress of a *lot* of repeat readings), and he can turn the thick board pages himself easily. We can also talk about the names of the different animals portrayed, and what sounds they make- I like that this book leaves a lot of room for editorializing and additional information from mom and dad. I think when he's older he'll enjoy the reward of finding Maisy at the end, too.
Book Review: My daughter's favorite book since she is 11 months old Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter is now 17 months old, ever since she started being interested in books (as early as 11 months) she has always loved this one. She gets more and more excited as we get closer to the end and she loves looking behind the door. I noticed all the little kids at the daycare also just stopped whatever they were doing when I read this book to them once. The best 'Peek-a-boo' type book we've seen.
Book Review: Can't Put it Down Summary: 5 Stars
My 16 month old son was not interested in sitting long enough for me to read him a book -- until this one. Not that it is lengthly, but he wants to repeat it indefinitely and finds it HILARIOUS. Now he's bringing me books all day, but this is his favorite. "Is Maisy in the boat?" I ask. "Naw!" he says, and laughs. The only problem is how to separate him from it.
