Book Review: A good guide to moving in the supernatural

Christians who read the Bible notice the prominence of supernatural acts such as healings in connection with the ministry of Jesus and the early church, and their near absence in our experience. Bill Johnson is a fifth generation pastor who has sought out the truth in this realm and can testify to recovering a lot of the experience. I found his teaching in this book to be theologically sound and practical. He takes pains to use exactly the right words to explain these matters. I especially liked his formulation that, while this world and things like sickness are entirely real, the kingdom of God is also real, a "superior reality," and "at hand." That is, Christian believers can access the powers of the kingdom now through faith. Faith comes from hearing the word of God, which hearing comes from Bible reading, worship, and prayer.
One problem with this movement from my point of view is its tendency to focus on personal problems and ignore the public sphere. He cites Daniel and Joseph as examples of how Christians moving in supernatural power can have a good influence in power centers, but stops short of offering a vision of how the Church can become a dominating influence in society, reversing moral decline in such areas as abortion, sexual anarchy, and economic justice. He is very good on revival but gives short shrift to reformation. Like most with a "power of the Spirit" focus, he does not give the need for intellectual rigor in defending the essential doctrines the weight it deserves. Of course, as Pastor Johnson rightly points out in this book, the "intellectual" arm of the Church also gives short shrift to the power of the Spirit. I desire to see the restoration of both.
Book Review: Seed of Faith to Pray

Below are bits from the book. I became a Christian at age 18 and for 29 years had heard many Christian teachers give different reasons for why we see so few miracles today (or for some of them none). This book will give you a seed of faith that will make your faith in God more alive.
Many who have feared the excesses made by other in the name of faith have embraced unbelief. Reaction to error usually produces error. Unbelief is safe because it takes no risk and almost always get what it expects. Then, after a person gets the answer for their unbelief (no miracle), they can say, I told you so.
Jesus told them to look at the miracles and believe them (John 10:37-38). Why? A sign always leads you somewhere. Jesus was not afraid of where His signs would lead them.
By looking for chances to serve, we give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to do what only He can do - miracles. I don't see everyone I pray for healed but there are more healed than would be had I not prayed for anyone.
One who embraces an inferior cross is constantly filled with introspection. Christians who are trapped by this counterfeit are constantly talking about their weaknesses. If the devil finds us uninterest in evil then he will try to get us to focus on our unworthiness and inability.
The safest place in this war is obedience. Praise God for who he is until fear no longer knocks at the door. This is not an option, for fear actually invites the enemy to come to kill, steal, and destroy.
Book Review: One of the most powerful faith building books you will ever read

I am so grateful for Bethel Church in Redding, CA and all that is pouring out from there. My wife and I hope to one day go to Bethel Supernatural School of Ministry.
I did not know much about Bethel when I initially bought this book, but I only heard a few sermons from Pastor Bill and heard about their breakthroughs in the supernatural, namely divine healing, so I picked up "When Heaven Invades Earth" & "The Supernatural Power of a Transformed Mind" at a conference.
When I started reading, I was blown away with the revelation that was in this book. As a man desiring to walk in a greater faith and awareness of God, this book truly captivated my heart. It will turn your faith on fire. I would share it with my fiance (at the time) over the phone, and we would be burning in our hearts to see a greater manifestation of God's Kingdom Reality in our lives. It so moved us that we got married, sold almost everything we had, and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, to be around people with similar faith. Our lives have never been the same since! If you are looking to get a taste of what Pastor Bill and His ministry are tasting, then this book is for you. I also highly recommend "The Supernatural Ways of Royalty" by Bill Johnson and Kris Valloton, the Associate Pastor of Bethel Church and Director of Bethel Supernatural School of Ministry. Enjoy!!!

This is the most awesome book I have read.

This book by Bill Johnson is well written, has many scriptural references and very much studied book by people world wide of every denomination. It is very much endorsed by all who have heard his teachings and those who know and love him. That to me tells of his character.
You cant get any better than this book.
Book Review: You Must Read It!

When my spiritual mentor recommended me to read this book, I have not heard of Bill Johnson. After reading this, and his other book "The Supernatural Power of a Transformed Mind", I believe he is like the current day John Wimber, and tapping into the power of God, seeing great results in reaching out to people. This book can be liken to part 2 of John Wimber's "Power Evangelism". Johnson not only goes through the scripture to show how much of our modern day mindset of what Christianity is is false, he goes on to paint a picture of who we are to be as Christians.
I am deeply challenged by this book and am planning to read it again. It has challenged me to take my Christian life to the next level, and I believe it would to for you. You have to read it and allow God to minister to you and paint a picture of who you really are as a child or God, heir of God thorugh Christ!
