Book Review: An opinionated parenting advice book, Not an innocent child development book

I received this as a baby shower gift. If you're thinking about giving this as a gift... don't. It's pretty much a book about how to parent based on the authors' personal opinions. You may inadvertently give it to someone whose view on child rearing is completely different than the views expressed in this book. It's far from the What to Expect When You're Expecting style of factual information. While I usually have a realistic "take the meat and throw away the bones" attitude while reading child development and parenting books, this one was extremely frustrating to me for a lot of the same reasons the other 1-star reviews expressed.
If you do end up reading this book, please don't make this your sole resource or child-rearing Bible. The authors pass off their opinion as the right way to parent/believe/teach/train/etc. Read from a variety of sources, and be sure you really know what you're recommending before suggesting this to others.
