It suggests questions to ask yourself, your health care professional, and the people who will be affected by your decision. And it is easy to read, has lots of examples and a good number of personal stories to help you understand how real people have dealt with the conequences of their decsion to undergo surgery.Book Review: A Must Read

I have been trying to learn all I could about WLS before having it and this book was recommended to me. It is awesome! It covers all of the things you may go through to get started all the way to post-op. Some of it was review for me, but I now have another list of questions for my surgeon before I have the surgery.
The cover insurance, pre testing, types of surgery, even recipes for all stages of your WLS. I would recommend it to everyone even thinking about this!

This book has been most helpful and informative since I decided to pursue weight loss surgery. It is very easy to understand and gives you keys for the different componets so that you know what you are reading information, statistics, tips, ect. This book contains charts of information and helps to interpret many issue that need to be understood prior to WLS. If you are thinking of having weightloss surgery this is the book for you. It has everything from pre-op visits to Md and weightloss team, to 1 year post op. You will be well versed when you meet with the Dr. for the 1st time and you will know what questions you need to be asking. The book has been extremely helpful for me and is written very simply and is easy to understand. Great read. Written in the easy-to-read style of the classic "Dummies" series books, this is a great reference book if you are considering bariatric surgery. It is full of information (things you didn't even know you HAD to know!) on what to expect before, during and after surgery --how to plan ahead, what you might experience, etc. As the author says: Take the book to the hospital with you and keep it by your bedside. Don't be a dummie; buy the book.
