Book Reviews of Weight Loss Surgery For DummiesBook Review: A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE THINKING ABOUT THIS SURGERY!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have researched most info on line...this book would have saved me the time and effort spent scouring the web for input. I love the layout of this book, taking time to comment on each stage in the process of changing your life. Even a section on "Is this surgery right for you". I call it my wls bible. I was pleasently surprised to find a foreword by Al Roker. I'm really excited about the course I am choosing for myself and this book is a wonderful guide to help me along the way. It should be required reading for anyone thinking about making this huge life changing decision.
Book Review: FANTASTIC SOURCE OF INFORMATION! Summary: 5 Stars
I wish that I had found this book when I was trying to make up my mind about surgery. It is so chock full of information. I bought it about a week or so before my gastric bypass surgery and it has become my guidebook. Everything in it goes right along with everything my doctor has told me. I took my copy to the hospital with me and it became my bible. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has had any kind of weight loss surgery or is considering it. I refer to it almost everyday. I am 11 days post surgery and plan to continue to use this book for a long time
Book Review: Great Book Summary: 5 Stars
This book was so informative. It walks you through every step of the process, from deciding which surgeon and procedure to the actual surgery to recovering and going home. There are even recipes and pages what you can expect to be able to eat at different stages of the recovery. Like all of the "Dummy" books, it is in regular every day English, not a lot of technical words. I took this book to a support group meeting the other day and one lady came up and said "Isn't that a great book". So if you are considering the surgery, I would highly recommend this book.
Book Review: Funny and Helpful Summary: 5 Stars
I'm having WLS in September 2007 and found this book to be very helpful in a way that anyone can understand. It was funny in places when it could be and didn't at all distract from the seriousness of the issue. I'm glad I ordered the book. My husband didn't realize the medical issues it can help, and wasn't sure I was doing what was best for me, even though my physician and our family cardiologist recommended the surgery. After reading the book, he has a better understanding of the procedure and the benefits to my health and is more positive about the surgery.
Book Review: Excellent WLS book!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I am currently a pre-op WLS patient (RNY) from Rochester, NY.
I picked up this book last month, and read it from cover to cover in only 2 or 3 days! It is very informative, and spells out everything in very easy to understand terms. Since I am in the final stages of waiting until surgery, I found the chapters on insurance approval, testing prior to surgery, getting in shape pre-op, and your hospital stay most helpful to me. And, once I am post-op, the ercipes and other information will come in handy!
