Book Reviews of Warrior Soul: The Memoir of a Navy SealBook Review: Never of guessed. Summary: 5 Stars
I would never have guessed that this book was written by a purely military man and not an actual writer.
My son is a navy seal, and though I was in the Marines, I don't know too much about them, so I try to read everything I can when I get the chance to try and understand what they go through. Why a lot of them join, why they go through the training, why the training is they way it is. This book hit all those points spot on. Although I as well as everyone am aware there is nothing in the world like Navy seal training, this book does give us probably the most in depth view into the world that I've come across as of yet. It will leave you with a sense of awe at what a human is capable of physically, mentally and emotionally. These are men amongst men.
Book Review: Well written, insightful and brutally honest Summary: 5 Stars
I don't often write reviews, especially about topics I don't have personal experience. But I can't say how much I enjoyed the book. Enjoyed is not the right word, because it is not a gung-ho, steriod pumped hollywood version. It was honest - fear and confusion were not omitted. The description of Beirut gave me a better understanding and respect for the Marines and sailors who served there. As a side note, Lt. Pharrer had a humanities degree and experience as a political speech writer before the Navy - combined with his experience gave him a unique ability to write the account. If for no other reason than to honor the servicemen who fought a battle few people understood or appreciate I recommend you read this book.

Book Review: Complete Story from Beginning to End Summary: 5 Stars
This is probably the most complete book I have ever read on the SEALS, out of many (the only exception is Lone Survivor below---it was as good or better in some ways----read them both). I find a LOT more facination with a book that is non-fiction, because these are events we can all relate to-----and this book is autobiographical in a true sense---as is Lone Survivor.
The tales in this book reflect major international events that have affected the U.S. in the reasonably recent past. The author was/is cleary a very hard man with his life----and the lives of others----on the line as is described in this book in enough detail to make it hard to put down.
Book Review: A Must Read! Summary: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed Chuck Pfarrer's writing style. I felt like I was right there with him walking the streets of Beirut, diving out of an airplane or helicopter, training for future ops in some far away country, etc. His experiences as a Seal were terrifying, riveting, amazing and heroic. These dudes, the Seals are truly bad-ass. They cannot because of security reasons get the recognition they so truly deserve - which makes the reasons they do what they do all the more compelling. What was infuriating was the political beauracracy and red tape he had to deal with after returning from the tour in Beirut. Unbelieveable.
Book Review: Good book Summary: 5 Stars
This is a pretty good book. It lacks the BS and fluff a-lot of other books have. The author does spend a lot of time talking about Beirut, but I'm glad he did. Despite what the American Psyche wants to believe, special forces and the military in general isn't a whole bunch of action and gratification. A lot of the time its a bunch of hurry up and wait, followed up by a big bundle of politics. I think this book gives a pretty honest look into what most people will never see, although I can't be sure, because I didn't live the life the author chose.
