Warren Haynes - Guide to Slide Guitar (Guitar Educational)I asked for and got this book for Christmas and was profoundly disappointed. The Product Description does not mention that everything in this book is written from a standard tuning viewpoint and does not address open tunings at all other than to say that slide is easier to play from open tunings. Right - just what I need, a book that comes at slide playing from a more difficult direction. I KNOW I KNOW - Jeff from Boston's review indicated the Standard Tuning viewpoint - I missed that ok?. I still maintain that the Product Review should have stressed this important fact. So anyone looking at this book or ANY book for that matter should instead 1) learn some slide basics from John Tuggle YouTube videos 2) spend your money on the Amazing Slowdowner program (available on the Internet of course) 3) tune to an open E, 4) put on your favorite slide blues song, use the Slowdowner to play it at half or 2/3rd speed and figure out how to play it. You'll improve your ear and have something worth playing at the end of your effort.
