Book Review: An awesome book for beginners and more!

After listening to the new Allman live cd, I was blown away by Warren and Derek Trucks slide playing. I did a search and had to have this book as soon as I saw it. I have tried to learn slide before (with and without teachers), and none have done what the first few pages did.
The trick here is that Warren plays in standard E tuning, so you don't have to detune your guitar. Warren then walks thru sweet soulfull licks that are very easy to learn with the cd. And you can play along without Warren to the rhythm tracks by turning the balance to the left.
A must have!
Book Review: Excellent Book on Slide

Great book for playing slide in standard tuning. This book is not easy but the examples sound awesome. You may want to start with a slightly easier book but once you start getting deeper into slide this is the stuff. I particularly like Warren's standard tuning tuning approach to slide playing because I am to lazy to retune and do not want to dedicate a guitar to open tuning. He also states that while standard tuning can be a little more difficult to play slide in it also allows you to do some things that would be very difficult is open tuning. I've been playing the electric guitar semi-professionally for over ten years. Looking to differenciate myself from the pack I bought this book without ever previously touching a slide. The book teaches you the fundamental slide licks and principles you'll need to succeed at this difficult technique. Granted the book is focused on southern rock & blues type licks you'll certainly be able to apply what you've learned to nearly any genre. Warren Haynes, and Gov't Mule have delivered a CD/BOOKLET that actually nails both a solid instructional, and a stellar listening experience!It's a straight forward way to learn bluesy/soulful slide guitar playing, while hearing some great music!The material is presented with step-by-step written/audio lessons which allow you to progress at your own speed/level.Plus,Gov't Mule is your band for the duration! Learning slide guitar in standard tuning is a great way to add another dimension to your guitar playing with the benefit of not having to retune your guitar. That's not to knock open tunings, they are great too, but playing slide in standard tuning allows the player to use all of their knowledge of scales, chords etc when playing slide. A highly recommended book by a great guitar player and teacher.
