Book Reviews of Walk Two Moons

Book Review: One of my favorites
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is one of those pieces of fiction that really had an impact on my life and I'm not even sure why. I've read other stuff by Sharon Creech, and while they are excellent, none of them have touched me quite like this story.

Basically, it is about a girl who is on a cross-country road trip with her grandparents. But as the story is told, we find out more about our dear Sal and her life and why she is the way she is.

It's funny, insightful, and heartbreaking. Creech's writing is smooth, charming, and utterly fantastic.

Book Review: Deep, Funny, Easy-to-Read
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was on my son's summer reading list, and I had to take a look. I was impressed with all that was packed into this book in a way that pre-adolescents can absorb and understand. Although the topics were tough -- a mother who leaves her young daughter as she searches for herself, and a grandparent's death, among others -- Creech treated the subjects with a fair amount of humor. This book reminded me of "Where the Heart Is" by Billie Letts. Very enjoyable, well-written, and funny -- with a lot of meat for discussion.

Book Review: A Story I Will Never Forget!
Summary: 5 Stars

Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech is a story about pain, sadness, and realization. Salamanca Tree Hiddle and her grandparents set of on a roadtrip to search for Sal's mother, who has left Sal's family. Along the way, Sal tells her grandparents the story of her friend, Phoebe Winterbottom. As she tells this sad story, Sal realizes how she has suffered in the same way.
I enjoyed this book. It has certainly had an effect on myself. I hope all readers read this book. You wouldn't regret it!

Book Review: loved it
Summary: 5 Stars

I read this book with my 10 year old daughter and we loved it. We thought it was one of the best books we had ever read. It was bittersweet and heartfelt. We were sad when it ended and wish it could have been longer. A real treat and a book all girls over 10 should read with their mom or by themselves.
