Book Reviews of Wabi Sabi

Book Review: A Tale for All Ages
Summary: 5 Stars

Wabi Sabi is a charming tale of deceptive simplicity. A cat's search for identity takes readers on a journey through lavishly illustrated landscapes punctuated by thought-provoking haiku. The discovery at the end of the journey has the impact of a true epiphany or "satori," a breakthrough to understanding and enlightenment that will resonate with older readers but is easily accessible to children as well. A rare gem--and a lovely gift!

Book Review: Wabi Sabi
Summary: 5 Stars

A gorgeous book! Beautiful unique collage illustrations, interesting story, haiku, and japanese cultural information. Enjoyed by the artist adults in the family, I think young children will enjoy the illustrations but the majority of the book is best appreciated by adults. This is a not to be missed book that will be opened and re-read many times.

Book Review: beautiful
Summary: 5 Stars

I can not say enough good things about this book. It's a work of art, really. The story is simple, yet profound. The illustrations are...they're gorgeous. Stunning. I wanted to linger on each page. If you are interested in book about Taoist philosophy, Japanese aesthetic, the aesthetic of nature and simplicity then you would appreciate this book.

Book Review: Wabi Sabi
Summary: 5 Stars

Mesmerizing cut-paper illustrations do justice to this simple tale, each page complete with a Haiku. Wabi Sabi, a brown cat in Japan, searches out the cultural meaning of her name and of this tale:

Fine but rough,
Beautiful but simple,
Comfortably warm.

Children ages 4-7 will pore over the pages.

Book Review: Illuminating and Delightful!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was so charmed by this gorgeous book, I bought copies for all my nieces and newphews. All respect is paid to the concept of Wabi Sabi in every nuance, elucidating young and old. The book is laced with Reibstein's haiku as part of the story and haiku in Japanese kanji by Basho and Shiki.

A beautiful gift. I love it!
