Book Reviews of Volkswagen Official Service Manual Super Beetle, Beetle and Karmann Ghia 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979Book Review: Great info/instruction, difficult to locate subject Summary: 4 StarsWe haven't completely dived into any major repairs, but have referenced this book for information about fixing the horn, fixing electrical wiring that's been noodled around with and tune-up specs, etc... So far it has provided enough detail, that is easily understood. It does seem to assume some prior vehicle mechanical knowledge or experience. My only complaint has been the lack of an index....sometimes it's difficult to locate your topic. The book is divided into 8-9 sections, each section has a table of contents....but when you're looking for something small, you have to guess which category it might fall into -- then read the table of contents to see which subheading it might be under...and if you don't see it in the tables of contents, you have to scan the sections.
Book Review: Volkswagen offical service manual Summary: 4 Starsvery detailed lots of photos showing how to install and work on your particular car. Would recommend it to anyone with a volkswagen.
Book Review: Most important book for beetle repair!! Summary: 5 StarsThe only way to go is factory information. You get it all wiring and diagrams of anything to do with your vw!! A+++++
Book Review: THE reference manual for your 70's aircooled VW Type-1 Summary: 4 StarsPreviously had the 60's era manual. It was great too. This is THE manual for servicing an aicooled VW T-1. Some of the tools shown are very specialized (VW) and you will likely have to buy slightly different aftermarket ones to actually use, but the concepts and methods are the same. All specifications needed to assembled/disassemble your ride are here. Written for a shop mechanic, but easy enough for a backyard mechanic to use. Though, not really for the beginner.
Book Review: Best Book Available!!! Summary: 5 StarsThis is by far the best shop manual available for the Beetle and Ghia! I have a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle Type I, and the Bently Manual has helped me more than any other book during the car's restoration. It has just about all the information you could need from a manual. And hey, it *is* the official service manual, published for Volkswagen!! There is only one downside which is not a major problem but certainly would help: there's no Index.
