These personal stories are short and highly moving, even shocking in most cases because the things they say are things not ordinarily known or talked about--the inside story of what law school is like for one idealist individual, the description of the sexual tormenting of a woman correctional officer in a men's prison, for example. Everyone who reads these narratives finds them fascinating.

Voices of Women and the Criminal Justice System is made up of 19 stories.? Seven of these stories are from female offenders, 5 of the stories are from female victims, and 7 of these stories have been contributed by women who are professionals in the criminal justice and juvenile justice systems.
