As soon as I picked up this book, I knew it would become one of my favorites! I page through it wishing that I were an intermediate knitter, but, alas, am just a little bit better than a beginner. Take heart, if you keep making those little stitches, you improve immeasurably.
I just started knitting again in November after a more than 10 yr hiatus, due to choosing patterns that were beyond my expertise. Since November, I have learned numerous cast on techniques (which I could NOT do before), how to fix dropped stitches (also something I was unable to do prior to November) and other little so called trivial techniques.
Keep at it, and keep on hand a book such as this. You WILL learn. If I can do it, anyone can do it, if you keep at it.

I own an older printing of this book and have found it an invaluable resource as a knitter. I was pleased to see that the book has been updated and purchased it for a fellow knitter. The book contains clear explanations of just about every knitting stitch and solutions to problems one can run into while knitting. It also includes some patterns.Book Review: GREAT BOOK!

It IS a great book. Detailed, clear, illustrated. If you are going to learn how to knit, this book is for you. Colorful illustrations help to visually understand the techniques. Clear explanations make it easier to follow. It starts from the very beginning, explaining different types of yarns and tools, the simplest and basic stitches like stockinette or garter stitch, and gradually flows through until about care of your garments. Very easy to understand instructions. You will soon become a great knitter with this book.
Note, however, that this book is not full of vogue designs to knit. It is a plain knitting textbook, with only few designs at the end.
