Book Reviews of Vision in White (The Bride Quartet, Book 1)

Book Review: Great New Series
Summary: 5 Stars

I was surprised also about the negative comments. The one thing I love about NR and her writing is that she is so diverse in writing styles and I read them all. To me it was so much more than a love story. In fact what really appealed to me was the relationships between all the characters, those between lifetime friends, those between parent and child and of course between lovers, but the emphasis to me wasn't all on the romance. All were believeable and beautiful. We all long for or have friends like Parker, Emma, Laurel and Mac. Some of us can relate to the relationship between Mac and her mother either directly or from the viewpoint of a friend. We all yearn for the closeness of Mac and Carter. This book had me chuckling one minute and teary eyed the next.

If you bought this book thinking you were going to get suspense, intrigue, or paranormal, then you obviously didn't read what the book was about. It doesn't promise to be any of those things. I for one can hardly wait for the next one and December is a long time from now. Keep them coming Nora.

Book Review: A Fine Romance
Summary: 5 Stars

I think many people have forgotten just where NR got her start. She has always written great romance; the suspense, the twisting plot, the intrigue, and (in some books)the paranormal came later. I bought this book because it was Nora Roberts and knowing it was straight romance with none of the "other" thrown in, and I was not disappointed. The premise of the four friends with the wedding business is a good one, and the plot is believable. The by-play between the characters is strong as it always is in Nora Roberts' books. The interaction between Mac and Carter was fun and funny and sweet. The story is a good read for a rainy Saturday and leaves the reader with a happy heart. If you want to be scared out of your mind or biting your nails to the quick, then read something else, but don't pick a contemporary romance novel and then complain because there's no suspense in it.

Book Review: Wonderfully Sweet Story
Summary: 5 Stars

You know how most romance novels are about a man who know what he wants and goes for it? He wants that woman so he goes after her? This story is like that but with a hero who has to find his footing first. Carter has loved Mac since high school and because of that she makes him nervous, happy, excited, and tongue-tied all at the same time. And I believe that's how love is supposed to be. A man who makes an idiot out of himself when trying to impress me is more endearing than one who's overly confidant and cocky. This love story is so sweet. I smiled through out the whole book and couldn't put it down all day. If you are looking for a great romance free of explosions, guns, and creepy bad guys but still filled with humor, excitment, and anticipation then this story is perfect for you!

Book Review: A Winning Formula...
Summary: 5 Stars

I am really surprised at the number of negative reviews for this book. I have been quite disappointed by Robert's last two series - I felt they were way too melodramatic and over the top ("We have to save the world from evil!!!!!"). I bought this on impulse because it was a Saturday and I was bored and I am really glad I spent the money.

The characters in this book are likeable and funny. Yes, I know Nora Roberts writes with a formula and it can get tedious at times, but the formula worked here. The relationships and situations were realistic and convincing. No, there was not a lot of "drama" or some major crisis that created conflict - but the low key approach worked here. This is a book I will pass on.

Book Review: Really more like 4 1/2
Summary: 5 Stars

There are more than enough reviews that give a summary so I won't. Having said that, I freely admit that I am a longstanding Nora Roberts fan and I have enjoyed most of what I have read, with the exception of some of her earlier Sillouette (sp) work. I felt that Vision in White was a throwback to some of her earlier trilogies. Many readers have complained about the paranormal twists in some of her later work, but they complain about this book too. My question to them is why do you read Nora? If you're looking for a great read that you can escape into for as long as it takes you to read it, then this book is for you! Great characters, great hero and a great intro to her newest series!
