Required reading for an introduction to the Vietnam, its history, government, and other important background information, as well as specific details such as visas and weather. However, the guide (or any other guide on Vietnam) may not be especially useful for the practical information LP books are often noted for - practical details on hotels, travel agencies and restaurants. It is important to note, which the authors mention, that citations of restaurants, travel agencies and hotels are already well known within Vietnam and prices likely adjusted upward or businesses (and their names) simply duplicated. The famous Sinh Cafe? There are now several dozen Sinh Cafes, only try and find the real one (actually, it no longer exists).
