Book Review: Very Enjoyable Book

I am not a Trekkie, although I have seen all the episodes of the original Star Trek. I have never seen T.J. Hooker and only occasionally watched Boston Legal, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a true actor's story of someone who set out to work very hard as an actor, acting in anything that came along. I didn't realize prior to Star Trek how many plays, TV shows, and bad movies Shatner had already been in. Even now, he is not a big huge star who brags about the art of it all, but a journeyman actor who treats his work like a real job, and truly enjoys every little victory. It was shocking to read how low his career got after Star Trek when he was working in dinner theaters across the country, sleeping in his truck to save money. But he rebounded. The story is told in a very engaging way with much humor, and no, he never explains his hair except in one surprise moment. He is also very forthcoming about the wife who drowned. An excellent autobiography.Book Review: An enjoyable read; worth your time

I was never a "Trekkie", but loved this actor after watching him in "Boston Legal". This is a very honest autobiography and enjoyable reading. He can be hilarious. I laughed out loud about 5 times while reading it, though there were some heart-breaking parts. I highly recommend this bio. So many autobiographies are sugar-coated (Ann Margaret's comes to mind) where they tell their life story and it is so sugar coated that you know they left many truths out, wanted people to only read the good and not the human side, but Shatner's was excellent!!! He deserves all the health, wealth and happiness he obtains.Book Review: It's funnier than Bill Shatner..

Think about it. You probably only know a few aspects of his career. The whole is much better and funnier than any one part. This really is a perfect autobiography. I walked away not needing to know anything more about the man. Shatner seems very open and honest and shares all aspects of his life without gracefully skipping over anything that might be too tough to talk about. I learned he is a very hard worker, he's appreciative of what he has, he's a risk taker, he's intelligent, and oh yeah... he's completely nuts!!!Book Review: Go that a way

Interesting, informative and entertaining from cover to cover. Mr. Shatner is certainly living an exciting life and it was a pleasure to have him share it with me. An important factor I got out of the book was that success comes from everywhere and from everything you do. He is open to any opportunity and has been greatly rewarded for being so. I highly recommend the book, even if, no, especially if your not a Trekkie.Book Review: Shatner deserves praise for a terrific book!

I am now a big Shatner fan. I have enjoyed his performances in everything I've seen him in from the early "Twilight Zones," "Star Treks," his movies and other television appearances, but this book puts the man on the map for me. It is a brilliant (touching and funny) autobiography.
