Book Reviews of Up Till Now: The AutobiographyBook Review: ***** Keep it Simple: Beam Me Up! ***** Summary: 5 Stars
I could go on and on about how this is one of the most important books to read ever in this genre; so I will do it now albeit in brief for the sake of NOT limiting sales! I mean I do not want to convey as this reviewer shared:
"While we all know Bill as a marvelous pitchman, this technique quickly becomes irksome when frequently repeated on the printed page. Perhaps it will be more effective in the audiobook version. These elements necessarily make for inconsistent reading, and while this is a book of quality, this is also a book to be read in short spurts. Please don't misunderstand me. It's certainly readable and without glaring typographical or grammatical problems, but Bill's earlier memoirs made for more consistent reading from a stylistic perspective. Also, as I'm sure someone must have pointed out by now, the photo from Cannes is missing from the insert section. Although Bill didn't appear in the animated film, I doubt the empty white box was meant as a joke."
Beyond that confession, let me ask you this question: Do you want to know how to live, love, and laugh at life's challenges -- its ups, downs, and all arounds -- then please, please sink your mind into this heartfelt story of fame, fortune, and family!

Book Review: Shatner Is Thoroughly Enjoyable! Summary: 5 Stars
I have never been a "Trekkie," although like the rest of the world, I have enjoyed watching Star Trek over the years. However, William Shatner has that rare ability to make others like him. Readers have mentioned that Shatner frequently interupts himself throughout UP TILL NOW. I absolutely LOVED this as it is like having him in your living room. I especially liked how he went on and on about the Star Trek merchandise! Pages and pages of it!
There were many instances where I just laughed out loud (somewhat rare for me) while reading this book. It was so enjoyable! And yet, I came away from it knowing how William Shatner really paid his dues and with such respect for his tremendous work ethic.
One of my favorite and endearing stories was how William Shatner's mother used to announce to EVERYONE that "I'm William Shatner's mother." How tremendously proud of him she must have been! Kind of reminds me of exactly how Denny Crane's mother would have been!
Excellent book. And yes. I DID proceed to [...] (which he shamelessly promotes LOL) and purchased several hundred dollars worth of products for my best friend's Christmas. She IS a Trekkie. Now my next stop will have to be Priceline...
Book Review: Saying Yes To Possibilities Summary: 5 Stars
If you don't find this book funny, you had better check your pulse. This book is hilarious and I loved it.
For us Vulcan types, Shatner's life form is both fascinating and perplexing. He seems to be an anomaly among earthlings. Shatner has lived a thousand lives through all the acting roles he's played. He has a memory like an elephant. His most famous role as Captain James T. Kirk was just a short chapter in his life.
William Shatner's life, and his success, has been ruled by one fundamental principle: "Saying yes to possibilities has been the core of my career."
He's exuberant about everything. He has found the GREATEST. AIR. HOSE. FOR. PUMPING. TIRES! But the years have humbled him. He admits to his failures as a husband in his early marriages. He has been criticized by a lot of people, and he admits it can hurt. He's a positive person that takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.
It's a rambling trip, with stories that spin off other stories, commercials and intermissions so that Bill can play a movie part with Sandra Bullock. He's a big kid who knows how to have fun.
Book Review: This audio book almost ran me off the road Summary: 5 Stars
Wow, this is possibly the most entertaining audio book I have ever listened to. There were parts where I got so engrossed, I almost ran off the road. Three times. Going 80 mph on Highway 5.
I was an early trekkie watching the original airings on Friday nights. But in the last few decades, it seemed Shatner had gained so much weight because he had become so full of himself. So this book turned me around. He's not just a pompous ass; he's a NICE pompous ass, and hilarious too. And he shares many insights into the TV and movie business.
I enthusiastically recommend this audio set to anyone, not just trekkies. There is no substitute for listening to him read it in his own voice. Note though, that I listened to the unabridged 9-disc version which is no longer manufactured and which I checked out from my library. If your library still has a copy, go enjoy it.
Book Review: Captain Kirk is my hero! Summary: 5 Stars
I have not watched any of Shatner's other TV series - or his "non-star trek" movies because I enjoyed Star Trek so much I thought it would be dis-respectful to the series I enjoyed so much. I listened to the book on tape with Shatner doing the reading. It was excellent! Mostly I laughed, but I also cried - so Bill gets an automatic 5 star. I had watched the Konan you-tube video of Shatner being an ass and wondered to myself, "Is this guy a crazy or just having fun?" After reading the book, I can confidently say, "He's having fun". I am 60.5 years old and can tell you that we take ourselves much too seriously; I belive Shatner shares my opinion. Shatner's book makes me want to watch all his tv series - but sorry Bill, it doesn't make me want to buy a captn kirk action figure from your website. (I might make a regular habit of cigars and scotch though...)
