Book Reviews of Under the Tuscan Sun : At Home in ItalyBook Review: OH PLEASE!! Summary: 2 Stars
The "emotionally stingy" comment is a bit over the top don't you think? Please stick to the actual "review" of the book and help the rest of us make a decision PLEASE! It's only a book, not the United States Constitution!
Many of the other intelligent and thoughtful contributions are well worth the read and I thank you many of you for helping me to decide whether or not this book is worth the purchase.
I sincerely hope that Tuscany is much friendlier than the United States.
Book Review: Rich, smug American gloats about her vacation home Summary: 2 Stars
This book was so hyped that I hoped it would be good, but the best that I can say is that it is fairly well-written. The writer is terrifically proud of herself. She drops references to her privileged childhood, successful (but part-time) career, and stunning San Francisco home as often as possible. As other reviewers have pointed out, she has an art-colony view of Italy, where she hangs out with other leisured expatriates and micromanages her environment.
