Book Reviews of Ultra Black Hair Growth II 2000 Edition

Book Review: Its about time!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is awesome! I highly recommend it for all black women and young black teenagers whether they are trying to grow their hair long or not. This book is plain and simple common sense on how to care for the hair shaft!! This book stresses important facts that most black women don't know or understand. It explains how the hair shaft is made up and the best way to keep it healthy to promote growth.

Ultra Hair Growth II is a regimen all black women should follow. Its plain and simple "TLC" for our hair which is dry and needs extra nourishment -- outside and inside.

I was very pleased with this book and I have to say the author has to be a very caring person to share this valuable information. Most women who have long hair would never give up the secret but Cathy Howse is willing to share.

Black women, invest in this book.....you will be so glad you did. There were parts of her book that made me scream out loud because what she was reporting was so so true. Its worth it for ourselves and our female children. This information should be passed on for generations to come. I say Thank you to Cathy Howse for revealing the truth!

Book Review: Great to add to a book collection.
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading this book and her lastest book, this book is a million times better. There are grammatical error but the information is useful. I feel that she wasted a lot of paper because her method could have been written on one 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. The rest of what is in the book are page fillers. The CH method in a nutshell.

1. Shampoo hair every 3 days using one lather (shampoo) to cleanse. Use a shampoo that is specified for dry damaged hair, color treated hair or chemically treated hair.
2. Moisturize daily (preferably twice daily) with a creme moisturizer or spray moisturizer.
3. Condition hair with a conditioner that has protein to strengthen, oils to lubricate, and a stimulant. Deep condition at least once a week under a hooded dryer for 20 minutes. From what I gather reading other reviews there is a recipe posted out there that you can modify to your requirements.
4. Don't use direct heat. (i.e curling irons, blow dryers)
5. Don't use brushes.
* Ms Howse also mention that trimming ends are not necessary. She also state that it is not necessary to apply anything to the scalp.
:)

Book Review: Research and Respect
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a really great book. I have benefited greatly by the recommendations and advice provided. I have never really had a problem growing hair but since using the "guidelines" I receive more compliments and "turning heads" about my hair. I would like to remind the "readers" that like many other business suppliers it would be ignorant to write about your product and sell another one. It is only sensible to advertise your own product! So please be mindful that she is not telling you that it is a MUST to use her products but her products back up her literature. Another "bad review" I noticed, stated her book had grammatical errors. Be aware that EDITORS ARE PAID TO CORRECT ERRORS NOT AUTHORS!!! I have read numerous books by African American authors and European American authors with errors. Please do not miss a blessing or knowledge because of your stubborness to look past mistakes. Let's have some respect for those who take risks to write and publish their works. ANYTIME YOU READ SOMETHING THAT YOU ARE NOT SURE YOU TRUST---THEN RESEARCH BEFORE YOU REPLY!!!!

Book Review: Excellent reference
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased Ms. Howse's Book in February of 2004. I wanted to wait to write a review because I wanted to make sure that I applied Ms. Howse's techniques & products in real life, in order to give a true critique of the information in the book. I can honestly tell you that all the information in the book has thoroughly helped me in my quest for long, healthy hair. My hair has never been so long in my life. My hair is usually shoulder length, but I could never get it to grow past that point. Now with the help of Ms. Howse's book and products my hair now reaches my bra strap and is in very good condition. Ms. Howse does promote her products in this book but what self-help book doesn't? She informs her readers of products that actually work without having to go through a lot of trial and error. Therefore, I must insist that those African American women out pondering over whether to purchase this book please give it a chance. If anything this book is a good starting point for healthy hair and a good reference to refer back to when hair care questions occur.

Book Review: 'THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING', 'JUST DO IT' GREAT ADVICE TO FOLLOW!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this book in March '09 and I have been following Cathy's advice since then. Let me tell you, my hair has grown alot but more importantly it's not breaking off anymore. The old myth that black women shouldn't wash their hair but once every 2 weeks is wrong. I wash my hair twice a week: the first wash, with a organic shampoo and I apply UBH's deep conditioner and then on my second wash, again organic shampoo and I apply a protein treatment. Plus using UBH moisturizer and a organic extra virgin coconut oil, my hair is thicker and healthy. Still trying to reach that 'BSL'(bra strap length) and I'm well on my way for the 1 year challenge.

Sure Cathy don't recommend certain brands in this book but I've emailed her and she always recommends a product or if I have questions she answers my emails fast.
Not all black women know to stay away from certain ingredients in shampoos, conditioners and moisturizers.

Great Advice and Great Book!! Kymme, The Rock City
