Book Reviews of Ultra Black Hair Growth II 2000 EditionBook Review: If you want to improve your hair READ THIS BOOK.... Summary: 5 Stars
I've applied the principles outlined in this book & noticed a dramatic difference in the quality of my hair. I'm not saying this as a woman with a healthy head of hair but as a woman who used to have very dry and damaged hair. I've become educated to understand that the reason for my damaged hair condition is due in part to not knowing how to properly care for my hair coupled with being victim to several hairstylists who have done nothing more than to damage the condition of my hair (i.e. drying my wet hair by using the "brush & blow dryer technique"). ... I think this book is a must have!! At first reading I finished this book in 3 hrs. I've atleast referred to this book about several times since reading it the first time to soak in all the helpful tips to ensure I follow the program properly. I'm so thankful for coming across this book because it provides very useful & "common sense" approaches to hair care coming from a "non-haircare professional". The only thing I thing I think Ms. Howse needs to improve upon is her customer service approach. If you read some of her responses on her webcite, I think she comes across rather harshly in some of her responses to the public. Otherwise that I feel that the content of this book is EXCELLENT!!
Book Review: Breakthrough book on black hair growth Summary: 5 Stars
Like many, I have long been frustrated with the inability to grow long hair, listening to the "professionals", and believing I must be doing something wrong. Then along comes just an average person such as myself, frustrated, who has decided to take matters into their own hands, and in the process learns more on their own than they ever did listening to the "experts". It's unbelievable the amount of bad advice black women get from people who are supposedly in the know about how to care for their hair and get substantial length to it. Myths abound. The things in this book are the same that I heard over and over again from people (with very kinky hair like me) who learned how to grow their hair long. I don't want to belabor the point, but let me just say this: After years of having very short hair, that mysteriously broke off after any spurt of growth, I am beginning to learn how to get more length to it. It's hard letting go of decades of bad habits, but slowly I am. And, the real proof is not only do I see a difference, but I'm getting comments from others letting me know I'm on the right track. I've got healthier and longer hair and it's because of things I learned on my own and in publications like this. Ladies, get this book.
Book Review: Great Book - See results if you follow directions Summary: 5 Stars
I followed this book and saw results - although initially, I didn't care much for the Dew Spray when I purchased it, I used her conditioner & went to Walmart to by B&B's Hair Moisterizer (looks like Pink Lotion but without the mineral oil). I only used Affirm relaxers also. My hair has never grown past my shoulders, but when I followed this book, it did. I did everything from sanding down combs, stop using mineral oil products, and I washed my hair more often. I'm in the military so I started working out more, got lazy, started going to bed w/ my hair wet/etc., and using heat more often to straighten it out. I then cut it short because the ends got real bad and later got braids. I searched for my book & realized my friend from out of town never returned it so I got another in the mail today and plan 2 try natural syles. This book is definately a must - don't pay your money on alot of those fake scams online scams & hair products. I wish Ms. Howse's site still had the before and after pictures because when I followed her process, a year later, people didn't think my hair was mine and I have type 4 nappy hair - the book just helped me to take care of it so it could be healthy & long. I give it Review: Useful Book Summary: 5 Stars
I have read this book a couple times and it can be used for a reference if you should have any questions. Look, it is a quick read. Cathy is just a consumer who got smart and educated about learning about what makes our black hair grow. Sure it's common sense-eat right, sleep right, excerise, drink water, and so on so forth. Things you should be doing anyway.
Please by all means DO NOT go on longhaircareforum.com it was a joke and a waste of time. Some if not most people on their are wearing weaves and lace front wigs, lying about how their hair grew so long in a matter of weeks, and how their hair will be growing down to their ankles by year's end, and fussing who said what about the Bible, pure craziness!!!! Back to Cathy - she isn't going for a Pulitzer in literature here so do let the bad grammar if any surprise you.
This book help me so much about why my hair was so dry and itchy all the time. I wasn't moisturizing my hair at all. Well Duh! Now I dont have to be under dermatologist care or cost to deal with dryness and itch. I highly recommend this book. Hey if cost a factor, you can check it out at the public library like I Review: common sense and then some Summary: 5 Stars
Let's face it. Black hair is really, really dry. I know. Mine is like the Saharra Desert. This book addresses that fact and then gones on to help alleviate the problem. Yes, there is some grammer issues, but being a professional typesetter/proofreader, I've seen grammer and typo issues in the most expensive books. That's not what this book is about. And yes, she does mention her products, but less then some books out there and not the "in your face" selling. That is also not what this book is about. It is about caring for your hair. It addresses an issue which has been around for ages--how to grow and maintain black hair. And even if you wear it naturally (which I did for a long time and which I hated), it still has to be kept clean and moisturized (or didn't anyone notice how dry the hair gets if not well maintained no matter what the length). This is the first book I've seen which truly addresses the issue and takes a common sense approach. I appreciate that the author experimented on her own hair rather then someone else's. It shows real conviction in what she's doing. Bravo! P.S. The only thing I ever got from trimming my hair was shorter hair.
