Book Review: I love the world that this author created

I love to read, and consider myself a picky reader. I read mostly non-fiction because it takes a lot for a fiction story to pique my interest. When it does though, I am completely immersed in that world and I never want to let go, and that is what happened to me with the Twilight Saga. I can only think of 4 other fictional worlds that have pulled me in in the same way and they include Harry Potter's world, the world created by Philip Pullman in the Golden Compass trilogy (also called His Dark Materials), The Outlander series, and Marion Zimmer Bradley's world (incl. The Mists of Avalon). So that gives you an idea of where my interests usually lie.
That said, I must include that I was very reluctant to read Twilight. Numerous people had been telling me for over a year that I had to read it, and the general idea that I had gotten of the book (teenage vampire love story), never appealed to me. When I did finally decide to sit down and read it, it was like crack (am I allowed to say that, thats how I describe it to everyone I tell about it ;)).
It defied my preconceptions of what a teenage vampire love story would look like thats for sure. The teenagers aren't your typical teenagers, there doesnt seem to be a rebellious bone in Bella's body. Shes goody goody to the core, at the same time that shes not annoyingly perky about it, she still has a dark side even though she never really does anything 'bad', or 'sinful'. The love between the characters could definitely be described as unhealthy, and that occurred to me numerous times throughout the saga, but where it goes IS a healthy a relationship, at least I wouldn't mind having their kind of relationship.
Yeah, the glitter in the sun thing is a stretch, but its not important to the story. I also admit that she is too detailed with many of her scenes, but I think a lot of good authors are that way, it is no issue to me to have to skim past the descriptive parts that I already feel I understand and can see without the excessive commentary.
The Twilight world is one of my favorite fantasy worlds, right next to Harry Potter. You'll like it too.
