Afton, bless her soul was my mother-in-law. She was the original "beatnik", "bohemian," in her own right. She flew airplanes in the 1930's when it was "unfashionable" for girls to 'do so.' Sculpted in Buffano style in the 1930's and progressed to faceting stones from the 1950's thru the 1980's. This book contains both cuts by Afton and my father-in-law, Mervin. They swept the field in amateur tropies, never quite wanting to turn "professional. If you are a faceter or "wanna-be" faceter, this is the book for you. The cuts are unique and brilliant - a gift that should be passed on.... Enjoy!
