Book Reviews of Treat Your Own BackBook Review: After my back problem occurred, this book gave me hope! Summary: 5 Stars
I had sciatic nerve pain that numbed my left foot and kept me in bed for three weeks. The Chiropractor pulled and twisted me. The Md's injected cortisone. Finally, I could walk around again. I had done yoga in the past. Now I'm a believer! I am back practicing everyday. McKenzie's book doesn't recomend yoga directly, but that's what it is. It works. He provides hope that these back attacks can be prevented. I rate the book five stars!
Book Review: Excellent- a must own for anyone with low back pain Summary: 5 Stars
As a physician I have treated thousands of patients with low back pain. It wasn't until I experienced a herniated disk myself did I truly understand how debilitating this condition can be. McKenzie's book was given to me by a physical therapist and while reading it, I was amazed how it hit the nail on the head over and over. This is truly one of the best medical books ever written for the lay public and practitioner alike.
Book Review: Great Book Summary: 5 Stars
I highly recommend this book. I hurt my lower back (bulging disk) but was lucky enough to connect with a physical therapist who practices the McKenzie Method. This book was "required reading" as part of my treatment. After learning how to do just a few of the stretching and strengthening exercises shown in this book I was standing up straight and pain free in a relatively short amount of time.
Book Review: Solid and simple Summary: 5 Stars
After years of back problems, year of chiro, i had a big flare up.
It involved unfortunately drugs, hospital, and ortho.
I was turned onto this book at the ortho lab.
Discussed with my chiro which already had taught me the press-up move.
Solid instruction, Simple explanation, and no sifting thru fluff!
Worth every penny for me.
Book Review: Simple and effective Summary: 5 Stars
I had a severe disc herniation at L5-S1. My physical therapist recommended this book. In fact, I have had therapists tell me they are "McKenzie trained." The book is simple to follow and truly helps relieve my sciatic nerve pain. My therapist recommended doing the exercises every 2 hours if I have acute pain. I credit physical therapy and this book with saving me from surgery.
