Book Reviews of Treat Your Own Back

Book Review: EASY Read - saved me from surgery
Summary: 5 Stars

I cannot believe some called this a "tough read" above. It has pictures of the very simple exercises. I gave a copy of this to a friend who gave it to his 60 year old Chinese mother who cannot speak english, and it worked for her! I was given this book by a neurosurgeon, after he looked at the MRI scan of my back. I have two herniated discs that were not bad enough to require surgery. I followed the directions and just as others have said, I was well in a few days. I have given the book to at least seven people. It does not work for everyone - one of my friends had a different kind of problem to which these techniques do not apply. However, six out of seven aint bad !

Book Review: This book changed my life...really.
Summary: 5 Stars

I had severe back pain for most of my teenage years, but when I got to college my lower back hurt so much that it made it almost impossible for me to sit through lectures. The pain was so bad that I could hardly move from bed on many days.

When I went to the campus clinic, I was very surprised when I was given a copy of this book as my "medicine." However, I haven't had any severe back pain since then, because I have been following the practices in this book. I have been almost entirely pain free for about five years now, and I intend to order several more copies of this book for my family members. A highly recommend book!

Book Review: This book taught me to manage my back! Pain free!
Summary: 5 Stars

My "lower back problem" began when I was 37, and for a couple of years I endured great pain and incapacitating "lock-ups." MDs and chiropractors helped in some instances, but it was a sports medicine chiropractic practice that introduced me to the theory and exercises described in Treat Your Own Back. The advice in this book has allowed me to actively manage this problem. I almost never suffer pain any more, and I can enjoy almost all the sports I always have (I don't jog any more, however). I turned 50 this year, and I say this advice has stood the test of time! Read this book, and DO WHAT IT SAYS!

Book Review: Best therapy for low back pain I have found in 30 years.
Summary: 5 Stars

I first borrowed this book in 1985 under recommendation from a friend who had gotten his copy in Austrailia. The secret to Robin McKenzie's back regimen is the emphasis on "first aid" self treatment and the use of both flexion and extension of the back in remedial treatment. The exercises are easy to follow and can be started at onset of the event, "My back just went out." If you have ever suffered the debilitating experience of low back pain, you should try McKenzie's treatment. Printed in New Zeland, this book is hard to find.

Book Review: Saved me from surgery in 1988;still love this book
Summary: 5 Stars

I had a herniated disc at L5-S1 in 1988 at the age of 33. I did not want to have surgery and found a wonderful physician who gave me this book. It saved me from surgery then and continues to be 'my friend' if I have a flare up. I have lent it to so many people and the last person didn't return it...so I am buying it again. The exercises and information on posture and lordosis maintenance are my back Bible. I am so grateful that my doctor was willing to forego surgery and gave me this book to educate me and help me heal myself. Get it, read it, use it!
