Book Reviews of Treat Your Own Back

Book Review: back problems no more
Summary: 5 Stars

This book sorted out my back problems, I had ruptured my L5-S1 disc and the long process of recovery was helped tremendously post healing with this book.
I have since recommended this book to several people with back issues from sitting, lifting heavy things etc and they have come back to me months later expressing joy and happiness for my recommendation. One family friend had suffered sciatica for years!!!! This book solved her problems in about 4-6 weeks. She was ecstatic.

This book got me out of my back trouble which can start to affect your mental stability as it can drag on for so long and affect so many everyday activities (including relationships). The results were dramatic after using them for only 4 weeks for me.

I found the key issues for my back problems were related to weak stomach muscles and shortened hamstrings. I use Yoga weekly these days to maintain back health and I have no problems. I am highly active and weight train weekly.
I would personally thank the author if I had the opportunity.

Book Review: Like a charm.
Summary: 5 Stars

I injured my back lifting a heavy board about a month ago and the pain got progressively worse to the point when I was getting shooting pains through my toes. I started seeing a physical therapist who after my first appointment lent me her copy of the book and instructed me on which movements to do.

Reading the short book helped me understand what was going on with my injury and put me on a rather quick road to recovery. I'm buying a copy of this book today less for myself and more so I can lend it out to others who get an injury.

I'm seeing the physical therapist on a weekly basis so as with anything like this I'd definetly recommend seeing a professional but this would definitely help relieve a great deal of pain and get you on the right track before you get to your first appointment. Especially because the last section is kind of like an emergency section walking you through what you should do immediately following an injury.

I think this book should be on hand in every home.

Book Review: The information in this book has kept me working for 10 years.
Summary: 5 Stars

First, this book isn't for everyone, as it applies to bulging discs, not ruptured discs. With that said, my physical therapist gives this book to each and every person he sees for bulging discs. I read the book, returned his copy for the next patient to read, and went out and bought a copy of my own.

I'm an urban 9-1-1 paramedic, and the information Robin provides has kept me working for the past 10 years. I have not had a serious episode of sciatica since, as I'm able to deal with any back pain flare-ups before they get out of hand. Sure beats surgery.

Oh yeah, you shouldn't expect instantaneous relief, this is physical therapy. Depending on how much pain you are presently in, it may take a while to get things back where they belong. But if you are faithful, Robin's exercises will produce results.

I've recommended this book to several friends, and all have given me positive feedback. Robin's book "Treat Your Own Neck" is equally good.

Book Review: Solved My Chronic Lower Back Problem Years Ago
Summary: 5 Stars

From my early 20's through early 30's, I was experiencing chronic lower back pain at least once per year. Many times, the pain frequently travelled down my right leg (sciatic nerve). I couldn't stand up straight and would "treat" it with hot and/or cold packs and rest. The pain would would eventually go away in a few days or a week and I would be OK until I tweaked it again. I finally reached the point where my 'treatment" didn't work and the pain stayed with me for three plus weeks reaching a point where I could barely stand. My doctor referred me to a physical therapist who treated my back and gave me this book. That was around 1990 - 1991. Since then, I have used the procedures and exercises contained in this book whenever I experience a "tweak" or any lower back pain. I am very happy to say that the procedures and exercises in this book have worked extremely well for me. I have not experienced serious back pain since then getting this book.

Book Review: This book cured my chronic back troubles in one reading.
Summary: 5 Stars

In my early thirties I had my first crippling episode of "back going out." Over the years the episodes became less severe but unfortunately more frequent, until at age 54 it seemed I could count on my back going out every week or so. For a while I did hatha yoga and that helped, but if I lapsed in my practice, the back troubles returned. Then a friend and fellow back sufferer gave me a copy of Treat Your Own Back, her last of 12 after having already given away 11. Reading it showed me clearly for the first time the cause of my back troubles, and I took corrective action. That was ten years ago, and even thought I no longer do yoga, I've had only a few minor episodes since - always due to some recognizable negligent abuse. Needless to say I came to understand my friend's enthusiasm for the book, and in fact, since receiving that first copy, I've given away dozens and dozens of copies myself.
