I'm always a sucker for a good, historical take on anything, but especially knitting. Learning WHO invented WHAT stitch pattern WHEN... Plus, really clear patterns & instruction.
The author is definitely a "right handed" or "English" knitter; she is gleeful over being able to do tvaandstikning by holding & twisting the yarn in her right hand, while stating that those who use both hands, won't get the right fabric.
Everyone is allotted one form of snobbery, right?!
This is a great book for those who already know how to knit to a formula. Mine is Elizabeth Zimmerman's. Plug in the patterns one has chosen from Trad Scandinavian Knitting, & you have just designed your own, beautiful, sweater.
