Book Reviews of Too Fat to FishBook Review: Page Turner Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great read, even for people like me who don't closely follow the Stern Show.
Book Review: Great seller Summary: 5 Stars
I received my purchase on time and it was as it was described on the website.
Book Review: Fear Factor Summary: 4 Stars
I have heard that laughing is connected to fear. You know, somebody slips and falls and the (immature) people around laugh because they are subconsciously happy that they themselves did not fall.
So, if you laugh at this book it might be because you're afraid of excesses and what those excesses could do to you. Comedian Artie Lange describes his excessive boozing and excessive eating in this book written with Anthony Bozza. Or maybe you laugh because you fear the use of cocaine and heroin; Lange had serious problems with both. It could be gambling that you fear; Lange has absorbed big losses.
Perhaps one has a fear of the kind of sexual promiscuity that Lange describes. I'm not sure what you would call such a fear, but I am sure that Lange could come up with a hilarious routine about it.
I admit that as I read the book, I began to fear that it was coming to an end. It's a good read. Many of the stories were very blunt, many were crude, but they gave me some insight into what drives a successful comedian like Lange.
Other reviewers have complained about the minimal treatment given to the Howard Stern Show. I concur.
I was impressed with Lange's willingness to place himself in harm's way to entertain the troops in Afghanistan, and I think his description of this tour is a highlight of the book.
Book Review: Funny if you're like him Summary: 4 Stars
I liked this book cuz I know what its like to be him. I have an insane overbearing Italian mom. I have a big family with all the accessories, IE, all the "uncles" and family friends. And it felt good to know someone else deals with it and can have a great sense of humor. His stories are some of the funnies s**t you've ever heard! He's the funny guy in everyone's circle of friends. The parts about his father dying are sad but well written and you can feel his pain through it. Its a good book and I'll gladly buy his next one.
P.S. If you're a person that doesn't live within 30 minutes of 90% of your family members - and your mom says "go on and have a good time without us" and you only see your aunts and uncles at thanksgiving and Christmas...and if those family dinners are quiet...this may be a little over your head.
