Book Reviews of Too Fat to FishBook Review: Funny, Raunchy, but also Serious Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this book because I have always thought Artie Lange was funny as hell. That Baby Gorilla scene is burned into my PFC. While I had been a Stern fan for ages, I have grown tired of him over the last few years- I bought this book soley because of Lange (and the back cover- funny as crap).
What I did not expect was how serious and sincere this book can be at times. When he talks about his dad, losing him, etc.. it is very difficult to read. This is someones life- a decent guys life- and it could have been any of ours. As a father of young kids, I am actually going to take better care of my personal well being as a result of reading this book.
Book Review: A touching and funny read Summary: 5 Stars
Artie becomes more human and less of a character on The Howard Stern show with this book. His early memories of his childhood are touching and it's easy to connect with the pain he's running from throughout the rest of his story.
Artie is a great storyteller and this book is an easy read. I laughed out loud a lot, and found myself marvelling that this guy is still alive given all he's been through.
With lots of entertaining Hollywood stories, this book is a great gift for any Howard Stern Show fan, anyone struggling with an addiction, anyone who enjoys a good rags to riches story, or just anyone who likes a good book in general.
Book Review: Hooked on Dope Summary: 5 Stars
The book is really good, but if you are looking at a history lesson about how Artie got to the Stern show and his various relationships with the show staff, you are not going to get it here. This book is about one thing - Artie's addiction. He goes from booze to coke to heroin, and so on. Don't get me wrong, the stories and experiences he went through whle high are absolutely hilarious. His relationship with his father is very well explored. You'll feel like you know him a lot better at the end of the book and you'll also realize how close he came to dying several times in his life. He positions himself well for a follow-up book - I can't wait.
Book Review: Artie at his finest! GREAT EASY READ! Summary: 5 Stars
Too Fat To Fish was a wonderful look into mr. artie lange's life and struggles. This book starts when he was just a small child and covers all the way through to his USO tour. After reading this book i have much more respect and love for Artie. He is very candid in describing exactly what he was feeling and doing at any given time. This book was such an easy read that even my husband read the book. (he has confessed to me that this is the only book he has ever read front to back!~)If you are interested in getting to know such a character..this book is for you.
artie, delaware loves you (not just your previous drug dealers)
Book Review: Dont even need to be a fan- Summary: 5 Stars
This book is amazing. It was actually named on the New York Times best-seller list. Artie Lange is a stand-up comedian, radio personality and actor. He can currently be heard on the Howard Stern Radio Show. He was an original cast member on MadTV, and starred in the movie Beer League. I found myself feeling all kinds of emotions during this read. I laughed, I cried, I cringed, and sometimes I almost vomited. The book reveals stories from all different times of Lange's life, covering successes and many failures. Even if you don't know Lange, this autobiography is an excellent read that I would recommend to everyone.
