Book Reviews of Too Fat to Fish

Book Review: Surprisingly Deep
Summary: 5 Stars

First of all I would like to say this is an excellent book that is written in a way that it will please both people who listen to the Stern Show and those who do not.

Unlike most books written by stand up comedians this is not simply a rehashing of his act. Instead its jocular autobiography that reflects both his Italian-American working class roots, and the unique relationship with his mother and father. Progressing through his career he has introduced a smattering of lewd and truly "Artie Lange" anecdotes that supplement the story tremendously.

In some ways this book helped mold my impression of Artie. He did not, as it is frequently stated, "Win the Lottery". His success came through a result of hard work and dedication. His stellar rise in fame from working class man to millionaire renown comedian epitomizes the something out of nothing aspect of the American Dream.

Book Review: Artie provides a guide of how to live like a maniac
Summary: 5 Stars

Artie Lange, Jr. is clearly mental. He is also lovable, sincere and blatantly honest in his first penned effort. His memoirs provide a Jack Kerouac-like narrative of drugs and more drugs from his early days as a stand up in NYC clubs, to his on-air Stern Show melt down. Artie opens his mental disease completely to his fans - showing the manic swings that can be triggered by nearly anything.

This book is his atonement to those he injured, and his praise for those who provided salvation, during his path from tragedy to success. And it is laced with just the right amount of ball-busting tales as only Artie could have experienced.

The book will make you laugh and cry out loud, even if you are not a Stern fan and have never heard of Artie Lange. And that is why Artie did such a great thing on these pages.

Bye for now.

Book Review: Baskin robbins called there down to 6 flavors
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is everything that I expected and more. I'm an avid Stern listner and i appreciate all the personalities, but i'm glad Artie decided to do this book to give insight on his life that was before unknown. The foreward by Stern is amazing and shows how highly he thiks of artie as a person. The book is at most times histerical, but it also shows the heartache that artie has experienced. This book expalins a lot about him. it also shows how gratefull he is for the what he has accomplished because at times it was very hard for him. This book shows Artie at his highs and his extreme lows but is a remainder of why he is so loved by his fans. The book is filled with tv personalities that have helped Artie get to where he is today, it is definatly worth reading

Book Review: Book Review: Artie Lange - Too Fat To Fish
Summary: 5 Stars

Comedian Artie Lange is a born story teller. For the past seven years Lange has told many of them, some good, some bad, but all of them funny in some way, shape or form in-depth on The Howard Stern Show and in his stage act.

Whether admitting to a threesome he had at a party in Los Angeles during his days on MadTV, or the time he picked up cocaine while in makeup as a pig lifeguard for the same show, or stories on his several addictions (cocaine, heroin, alcohol, gambling) and the hilarious and oftentimes harrowing results, or the time when he was just a little kid and his father used young Artie in order to meet Frankie Vali, Lange manages to ring out the pathos in every story, touching on a wide range of emotions in the process.

Book Review: Love Artie!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have always loved Artie, but after reading his book I love him even more. His stories about his dad are so sweet and heartbreaking. The stories about his drug use break your heart as you realize how he has not yet escaped that demon. His love for his mom and sister and the pride he takes in financially providing for his mother make you realize what a sweetheart he is. It also seemed that he was trying to repair damaged relationship and professed his love for former friends and managers with whom he has lost touch. Finally, the reader also gets a better glimpse into his heroin breakdown while filming his movie. Wish he could repair his relationship with Dana. She seemed to really love him.

Great Read!
