Book Reviews of Too Big for Diapers (Sesame Street) (Sesame Steps)Book Review: Inspired My Toddler to Use the Potty- Well Worth the 5 Bucks! Summary: 5 Stars
My two year old daughter was wairy of using the potty before I read this book to her. Ernie is a familiar face and she seemed comforted to know Ernie was once a baby and then he learned to use the potty. Now she loves to use her potty seat! The text is very basic so I make up my own words to describe how Ernie uses the potty. My daughter is so amused by this book and asks for it all the time. She always laughs at Ernie when he uses the toilet paper and she says "That's too much, Ernie!" This book inspires her to work up a super big lather of soap when she washes her hands! It is more entertaining than it is educational but it is my daughter's favorite potty training book.
Book Review: So Cute! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my daughter when she began the potty training process. It's so cute! And it really gets the point across too. "Ernie's too big for diapers, so now Ernie has to learn to use the potty. When he feels he has to go, he sits down on the potty and goes!" etc. I love the photographs, and it's nice and short too.
My daughter is not a big Sesame Street fan, but she really likes this book. Even though she's fully potty trained, she still looks at it once in a while.
Also for those afraid of gross anatomy: Don't worry about it on this one. Ernie sits down to potty and you don't see anything. It's appropriate for a girl as well as a boy.
Book Review: Nicely done Summary: 5 Stars
Our daughter loves Ernie and this book gave her a chance to see how Ernie gets used to using the potty and not wearing diapers anymore. The words on each page are short and simple, the pictures are very appropriate for youngsters who can relate to the different activities they encounter each day and how they can signal a grown up that they need to use the bathroom. The steps are so matter of fact that it makes potty training seem as simple as 1-2-3!
I like that this is a sturdy board book so it withstands daily reading for both our kids. Very well worth the price.
Book Review: Great Book! Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted to start "early" getting my toddler familiar with the potty, so this book has been great! My main goal right now is that he not be afraid to sit on it and be able to sit for awhile, pants optional. He really likes to read through the book and sit on the potty, though he prefers the toilet with the trainer seat. Either way, he likes the routine of reading this book before throwing his one square of toilet paper in the potty and flushing. Then off to "wash hands with sudsy soap," just like the book says.
Thanks, Sesame Street!! We're off to a good start.
Book Review: Too Big for Diapers is Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
My 2 1/2 year old son loves this book. He is a very visual child and usually flips pages so fast it is impossible to actually read him a story. But this book had his full attention from the first page. Not only does he let me read the entire story, he wants me to read it to him again and again. It is now his favorite book. And even better, when he got his new potty chair, the very next day after his bath, he went potty in the chair, initiated all on his own. This book was the only "preparation" he had for the new potty chair. I highly recommend this book
