Book Reviews of To Hell and Back: An AutobiographyBook Review: his wit and humble attitude make this a fast read Summary: 5 Stars
Meat Loaf is larger than life and nothing proves it more than his autobiography. Written in a conversational tone, while reading this book you will feel like you're sitting across from the man and cracking up with every breath. An incredible story. Meat Loaf is an amazing, complex person, whose attitude is inspirational. I read this book in 24 hours because I couldn't put it down. The design of the book is beautiful and the hundreds of photos make you feel as if you are flipping through one of his personal photo albums. I'm not even a huge Meat Loaf fan, and I enjoyed this book. I'm a fan now.
Book Review: Life Is A Lemon And I Want My Money Back Summary: 5 Stars
I found myself not being able to put the book down. Being a fan, I wanted to find out all I could about MEAT. What came through the story for me was how much heart MEAT has. He truly knows himself and his talents. I would love to see this made into a play or movie. The story is almost a "Touched by an Angel" story. It is great to see how hard work and determination can take a person of good spirit to the place they want to go. Great book! I would recommend this book not only to those that are interested in MEAT but also to those that like to read a good underdog story.
Book Review: To Hell and Back Summary: 5 Stars
This book filled in the gaps related to Meat's life and career. When I finished to book, I felt a new understanding of his relationship to his music, composing, and acting career. Also the dysfunctional and functional family, and relationship dynamics, and their influence on Meat. I recently attended the Storytellers Tour concert performance in CT, and was able to understand references made throughout the show. (Which was spectacular!) Highly recommend book for fans of all ages and intensities.
Book Review: A very good book Summary: 5 Stars
This book was everything I expected and more. The second I got hold of it I felt happy. It's good that the chapters are short so that you can get back later and read your favourite parts again. I also liked the fun facts about Jim Steinman. And for all of you who don't know what "that" is - here you get the answer. The one thing I wanted something more on was the comeback-years, which I find truly amazing. All in all, this is what you should expect from the greatest artist of all time.
Book Review: Honest and soul searching with humor and pain Summary: 5 Stars
The honesty and humbleness of the story of Meat Loaf makes it very inspiring reading. His survival of life's events, the patience and fortitude of his wife, and the steadfastness of his fans makes this a moving and intriguing book. Interestingly, he did not touch on his life-long weight problem, which he has apparently conquered. All recent pictures and videos and movies show him looking quite healthy and happy. Congratulations to Meat Loaf for his courage in telling his story..
