Book Reviews of Third Degree: A NovelBook Review: Really disliked this book Summary: 1 Stars
Not up to Iles standards..really really disliked this book and all it was about.
Did anyone else find the ending inane? Worried about what a child is going to think about his dead father if he committed suicide - as opposed to watching that father kill several people in front of him and beating on his mother. Felt like I was being asked to forgive the wife and lover their lack of morals but to accept the deaths of others easily because of their lack of same?? Whole thing was just tawdry.
Book Review: A Waste of $9.95 Summary: 1 Stars
I took three good books on vacation. Too good, I guess, because I read them faster than anticipated and needed a fourth book for the last few days. I'd read a few of Iles' books so I figured I couldn't go wrong. But I certainly did. The plot was ridiculous, especially since everything seemed to be crammed into one day. Overwriting and lots and lots of cliches weren't helpful, either.
He certainly can do better.
Book Review: Disappointing! Summary: 1 Stars
I was looking forward to starting my summer reading with one of the few Greg Iles books I'd not read. I was disappointed from the first chapter. It did not sound like Greg Iles at all! I kept hoping that things would pick up, but it just plodded along throughout. Third Degree seemed totally out of character for Iles, and it fell flat - not exciting, not suspenseful, definitely not worth the time it takes to read. Odd.
Book Review: Lurid Summary: 1 Stars
Third Degree is one overly long gossip column. There is an obsession with male sex acts. What is the point. Extended commentary on sexual prowess and income tax evasion are apparently to serve in lieu of a plot.
I read it because I paid $10 to read an "electrifying bestseller of Southern small-town suspense." What suspense? Everything is highly predictable. Save your money.
Book Review: God Awful Summary: 1 Stars
This book is about adultery that rewards the guilty parties. Ugh, I never read a book that made me so angry at the end. And I read trashy novels all the time. It dragged on forever, it was like watching a 24 epsiode that never ended. Please pass this book by. Don't waste your time.
