Book Review: Nice Book

They Call Me Coach by John Wooden is Wooden's autobiography. The book tells how Wooden was too shy to talk to his high school crush all the way to his NCAA championships. To help you get a feel of the book and Wooden as a person I'll point out that Wooden carried a cross in his pocket everywhere he went to remind himself of his religious duties. But he also pointed out that the cross is not an idol, just a reminder. I was hoping there wasn't going to be a lot of basketball talk in They Call Me Coach but I was expecting it. There wasn't too much talk of basketball until the end so I was happy. I was getting a little bored at the end though because it seemed like that was all he was talking about. But Wooden's simple writing style, thoughts on life, and honesty made it a very great read.Book Review: A good text for leadership

I purchased this book as part of a Ph.D. level class as a lesson in leadership. Coach Wooden shows his ability to lead and educate through his expertise in the fundamentals and the basics. He demonstrates his ability to change tactics and styles with different individuals, which is essential in good,effective leaders. I would recommend this book on several levels. At face value, it is an exceptional story about an exceptional coach and man. At a deeper level, I think it portrays a good example of how to lead and and how to set an example for those you are trying to lead.Book Review: Great advice from a Greater man

You can't miss with Wooden's thoughts, words and advice. If you're coaching yong people, he hits home lessons that every player and coach should know and understand. Even if you're just a parent or someone's business supervisor, read this book to learn how to better deal with and motivate those who rely on you for leadership. Don't let the coach down and pass these wonerful skills on to the next generation. Wooden's vision will live long past his coaching days. Find out all about it right here.
Book Review: As a business book, not my cup of tea

I read this book based on a recommendation from Forbes magazine in an article named "books to get rich by".. well, this one is quite a reach to have on that list. Now, if you are a fan of UCLA basketball, Mr. John Wooden himself, or 60's college basketball, you will love it. I am a not a fan nor a hater, but I was trying to get some value out of it for business purposes. I didn't get much.Book Review: John Wooden Book

I loved the coach and his teams. Book is just a slow read, but interesting for those of us who witnessed his talented teams.
