Book Reviews of The Westing Game (Puffin Modern Classics)Book Review: My favorite book of all time Summary: 5 Stars
I first read The Westing Game in Junior High. I'm now in my 30's and it is still my favorite. I read it in an afternoon when I'm home with the flu and take it with me to read in doctor's offices or on long plane rides. I've probably read it at least 50 times.
The book involves a group of people mysteriously invited to move into a new apartment building in Wisconsin. Shortly thereafter, a local businessman dies and all the residents of the building are named as heirs. But to claim the fortune, they must solve a mystery -- the mystery of the deceased's death! Clues are everywhere in this book (for both you and for the characters), but I still bet you're surprised by the ending!
Book Review: One of my all time favorite books Summary: 5 Stars
The Westing Game is a compelling and insignifacent treasure that anyone would be overjoyed to dig up! This book has many main characters yet maintaines the sense that you know the characters personally, and you never get confused. A suspensful and unpredictable mystery with a suprising ending and fun plot. The Westing Game is and will always be one of my all-time favorite books. Great for all ages, it pleases mystery lovers and mystery haters alike. The authors writing technique plays out nicely with the stories mood and setting. This fabulous novel includes action, drama, suspense, mystery, suprise, and over-all, entertainment. I highly doubt you can be unsatisfied after reading this book.
Book Review: A fast-paced and fun whodunnit for kids and adults Summary: 5 Stars
I had read this Newbery winner back in 4th grade, and while I remember absolutely loving it, I could barely recall the plot! I'm so glad I decided to reread this one. It is an excellent story, full of intrigue, fun, and wonderful plot twists. I can imagine 4th graders on up reading this mystery, and trying to solve the 'whodunnit' right along with the rest of the characters. The book, published in 1978, only dates itself in one place (by referring to a girl with cognitive disabilities as a "Mongoloid"--yeesh). But otherwise, this was a riveting mystery, and well-worth a reread! I would recommend "The Westing Game" for children ages 9 and up, who love trying to solve a good mystery!
Book Review: A Great Book Summary: 5 Stars
The Westing Game is a very mysterious book. It is filled with confusing parts that make you think. I liked The Westing Game because I like to read mysteries. It begins with the narrator talking about The Sunset Towers and how six people are invited to purchase an apartment. The most interesting parts I thought were when all of the heirs were brought together at the funeral. Another interesting part is when they are introduced to the game. I thought that part was very good. I can't tell you any more, you'll just have to read it yourself. My advise to anyone even considering reading a good book is to buy this one, you won't be disappointed.
Book Review: Wow!!!! by, DJ from North Boulevard School Summary: 5 Stars
This book I am reviewing is The Westing Game and is written by Ellen Raskin. I think this book deserves 5 stars because it is a great mystery book. This about a man named Sam Westing and 16 heirs. Sam Westing is trying to figure out who murdered him. It takes place at Sunset Towers where the main character is shot. The reader and the murder victim tried to solve the crime. The problem is solved when Sam Westing figures out who his murderer is. I recommend this book to 4th and 5th graders and mystery lovers. Other books by this author: Figs and Phantoms and also Poems to Make You Laugh Out Loud.
