Book Review: Setting to Sea in a Storm

Safety is one of those illusions we have been told to fear. Perhaps Romero showcased this best, noting how humans would be the one monster that would ultimately try to take anything we find. And that would certainly be a conclusion worth listening to. Now, with the Super Jail secure, rick and the others set about making their new world. They set to their crops and they set to their defenses, hoping that this place will hold off the wave of walkers gathering outside the gates. A wedding happens during the tides, too, and some things seem like they might well be going the people's way for once. But, in the end, it doesn't matter how beautiful the sky looks in a place like this. you only have to look to the skyline that others create and you can see the tension that is going to evetually come and break everything.
As far as The Walking Dead is concerned. these are the moments when you really get to know the world. you see a difference here, too, and you get to know how this stands apart from other series. Instead of hurrying through the storyline, Kirkland and the others take their time and flesh out everyone - even those who will die on you. That's the beauty of this motion, the trip is taken through the eyes of humans and the suffering is real enough to hurt. Perhaps that is why this story arch, above all others, hurts so much. While you don't quite know what will happen yet, you do know something terrible is coming.
If you are new here, don't read out of sequence. If you started watching this on TV, don't read to find out the little things. Events change but, by and far, you might just destroy something. Besides, this is a work of art and peeking would be like staring at the frame of a painting without looking into the details that make it great. Here you have art, people, walkers, and all sorts of power that makes the world move. Its amazing and this arch, perhaps the best I have seen in a long time, really merits the 5 and then some.
