Book Review: Not Really Lily Chin's Work
Summary: 1 Stars
Although Lily Chin's name and photo are on the cover, this book does not contain Lily Chin's work. This book is a collection of 20 knit patterns from members of an online group Lily Chin started at some point, with a brief bio of each member. I rate this book with 1 star for two reasons: the complete misrepresentation of what the book is about - Lily Chin should not have been listed as the author, but as the editor; and because the patterns themselves are not bad, they just aren't particularly innovative. In the introduction, Lily Chin states that she helped the knitters in this book, if they needed help with their designs. I guess this was supposed to make it alright for Lily Chin to put her name on the cover, but I feel deceived because the contents are not about Lily Chin, or her work.
This is not a book for beginning knitters. There is an assumption that the reader has at least intermediate knitting skills. Many intermediate or advanced knitters have probably made most of the patterns in the book, with some slight variations - cardigans, pillows, etc. Overall, I don't recommend purchasing this book.
