Book Review: how kinsella became my favorite
Summary: 5 Stars
I just want to premise this review by saying that THIS book was given to me by a friend simply because she finished it and thought i might like it... never mind that I hated reading, never read, and probably wouldn't read it. I had found out that shopaholic was being turned into a movie, and since i HAD that book as well, i read it and fell in love. then i remembered i had THIS book... and didnt even realize it was the same author... and thus beginning my obsession with chick-lit novels, catapulting me into a sort of bookworm escapism type of person. thank YOU, sophie kinsella!
Samantha is an uptight lawyer who makes an EPIC mistake and somehow finds herself running away from her old life. ANd by accident starts a new life as a housekeeper. Ahh... i don't want to give away too much without spoiling all the little fun things that i enjoyed discovering as i read this book.
i adore EVERYTHING about this book. like i said, this book is was what made me start to read and realize that novels CAN be entertaining and fun! (i really hated reading. i cannot stress that enough) I loved the humor, the plot, and the characters. i LOVE how kinsella was able to bring these characters to life. I really felt for Sam and could not wait to find out what would happen next. THere was just something about the storyline that kind of gave me a guilty pleasure/vindication kind of feeling. like HAH! take that! and yes.. nathan is definitely a swoon-worthy character. more of him pleeeaseeee!
Okay, and yes, i kind of understand why some people would hate this book. it does somewhat feel like it's bashing overworked lawyers, but so what? i really feel like it could be broadened to any professional woman that's too into her job. Kinsella does a fabulous job of portraying a what-if scenario for you.
ooh but i love it all. if you love chick-lit, please promise me that you'll read this one! okay, thanks!
