Book Review: Great Story/ Better Version

I've been a big fan of Tucker O'Doyle since the book was originally released by Lulu Press. That said, the Bellissima version is cleaned up a bit grammatically and now comes in both hardcover and paperback versions. The cover art is also new.
As far as the story itself is concerned, this is a wonderfully interesting fantasy series. Book 1 builds the story up from the perspective of a neglected kid (Tucker) who ends up befriending a lonely old man who lives up the street from him. Without giving up too much of the plot, the old man turns out to be more than meets the eye. Many truths are revealed once Tucker finds an other-worldly creature floating in the currents of the river behind his house.
From there the adventure begins to pick up like a whirlwind! The action literally doesn't stop once Tucker attempts to return the animal to the land from which it came. I personally think the best part of this series is the interesting characters Tucker links up with along the way. It doesn't take long to fall in love with some of his sidekicks and the majestic descriptions of the land of Zooblatia.
The ending has its own share of surprises. The first time I read this book, I wasn't sure that the series was going to go on (I sincerely hoped it would). The ending not only took me by surprise but I simply had to know what would become of the characters and the kingdom that had swept me away. Fortunately, Bellissima has bought up the rights to do the entire series. Book 2 is already out (Night of the Stalkers) and in some ways, maybe even better than the first one. I finally got the first two in hardcover and can't wait until Book 3 comes out.

Tucker learns some secrets about this strange new world, fights battles, and learns a lot about himself and others.
