Book Reviews of The Ultimate Gift (The Ultimate Series #1)

Book Review: The Ultimate Question...
Summary: 5 Stars

What is really important to you? You're alive, but why? That really is the "Ultimate" question that each of us needs to answer along our walk through life. What is important about your life or my life?

Jason is a spoiled brat, but he doesn't know it. He hasn't really lived a single day of his life, but he doesn't know it. He has been a useless human on this planet for his whole life, but he doesn't know it. He can change, and his dying great uncle knows it. Over the course of a year, Jason comes to learn just what it means to live. His uncle gives him assignments to help him come to see what it means to learn, to love, to dream of big things, to know how to use money to help others, to get what it means to work for what you have, to give of one's self to others in need, to know true friendship, and so much more.

Jim Stovall made each character speak, and more importantly, think, as a unique character. The internal musings of the eighty-year old contained words and ideas that showed his longevity and accumulated knowledge, while the ranting and complaints of the young grand-nephew, Jason, revealed a shallow and angry young man. I truly bought into each character.
The action moves along quickly, with explanations set in dialogue between the three main characters, the lawyer, his secretary, and the young nephew.

Read this book, then give it to a friend. It is a quick, but powerful, read that will bring tears to your eyes as you discover the answer to life's ultimate question.

Book Review: More than a novel!
Summary: 5 Stars

Everyone got a piece of the pie when Red Stevens died- a portion of his multibillion dollar estate- except for Jason, the 24 year old fictional character in Jim Stovall's "the Ultimate Gift". Born with a silver spoon and never having worked a day in his life, Jason was eager to find out what he would inherit from his late great uncle. You could imagine how disturbed he was when he learned he had to accomplish twelve tasks (in the name of "gifts") to win the ultimate prize; what he hoped would be a giant fortune! The story unfolded as I unwrapped these surprising "gifts" along with Jason, one by one. It was surely a fun ride!

Read this book if you are interested in discovering the real gifts in life! Jim Stovall is a great storyteller you don't want to miss. Also if you love exploring infinite possibilities and want to lead a happy and satisfying life, check out this amazing book by Ariel and Shya Kane, "Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment". The stories in this book are so sweet, profound and life-altering! The Kanes are masters in communicating their messages across in fun and inspiring ways. I read it repeatedly and am still pretty amazed each time I picked it up. Don't miss their other books as well: "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work: The 3 Simple Ideas That Can Instantaneously Transform Your Life" and "How to Create a Magical Relationship". I recommend all of them!

Book Review: A Literary Gem!
Summary: 5 Stars

"The Ultimate Gift" is a literary gem! Author Jim Stovall packs 12 simple and profound life lessons (gifts) in this wonderful, "quick-read" novel. The fun story line feels interactive as I related to the main character, Jason, who goes on a year long quest, full of multiple tests that lead him to the Ultimate Gift...well-being.

I was touched by the "gift of friends" as Jason discovers that "when you just worry about yourself, you are always disappointed. But when you think about others & their well-being first, everything works out best for you and for them". I love this lesson! When I take my attention off myself, I'm available to take care of others around me. This action alone gets me out of my thoughts and brings me into the present moment.

Another entertaining and fun book that leads its' readers to the ultimate gift of well-being is Ariel & Shya Kane's Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment. There are priceless gifts of wisdom in each story of this book where enlightenment is easy for all of us to access. Enlightenment is not only for the Gurus of today - it is for all of us to explore and experience. It's fun to find authors that entertain & share gems of wisdom at the same time. Hats off to Jim Stovall and Ariel & Shya Kane! Thanks for sharing the fun of magic!

Book Review: The ESSENCE of this Book is Absolutely Superb...
Summary: 5 Stars

...but just don't expect a well-written work of great literature here. I unreservedly give the book a five-star rating simply because of it's essential message, which nobody can seriously argue against.

In fact, such lessons the book contains have the power to radically change your life for the better, as they did for the principle character in the book, Jason Williams. Just kindly overlook some of the occasional corny dialog, unrealistic situations and predictable worn-eaten cliches - as the overall message and spirit of the story is of tremendous potential value to the reader, and well-worth serious reflection.

I recently had the chance to read the novel and view the motion picture based on it, both within the space of 36 hours, so the impressions are fresh in my mind. The movie - founded very loosely on the original story - is an absolute disaster, and an unfortunate disservice to the excellent moral of the novel. So I would recommend the book far above the movie, as the movie just contains the sketchiest bare-bone outlines of the book, and thus the powerful basic lessons of the novel are essentially paired back to virtual non-existence in the syrupy, ill-conceived Hollywood film version.

Book Review: I Loved This Book!
Summary: 5 Stars

In these troubled times I found this book a breath of fresh air. It was inspirational and touched my heart. Stovall tells the story of a young man, Jason, who in order to receive his inheritance from his great uncle,
must complete a year long journey called the "ultimate Gift". The first day of each month Jason is given a gift which is a task he must complete successfully before he can move on. If at anytime Jason becomes a problem
his journey is over and gets nothing. At the beginning of this book Jason is a rich spoiled kid who had never worked a day his life. Through each chapter we see Jason transform into the wonderful person his great uncle knew he could be. One of my favorite chapters was when Jason learns that he blossoms when he takes his attention off himself and takes care of others.

Two other books I really enjoyed were How to Create a Magical Relationship: The 3 Simple Ideas that Will Instantaneously Transform Your Love Life and Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenmentby award winning authors Ariel & Shya Kane. All of these books left me with a smile on my face.
