Book Reviews of The TwitsBook Review: Expect the unexpected Summary: 5 Stars
I love the outrageousness of Roald Dahl's books. He refuses to follow the predictable formulas of children literature, and each turn of the page brings something surprising, strange or head-scratching.
"The Twits" is no exception. Dahl start us off with two utterly dislikeable main characters who play mean tricks on each other and are cruel to animals. Should we laugh - or be disgusted? Sometimes it's hard to know. The second half of the book involves an elaborate over-the-top plot by the animals to get revenge on the Twits.
It's a crazy and strange book - and a lot of fun.
Book Review: Doesn't get much better Summary: 5 Stars
I read this 25 years ago and I still remember where I was when I did. A couple of the "tricks" played in the book stuck with me. When I recalled it recently I bought it for my daughter. I told her she'd love the book, but she wasn't sure. She started reading anyway. She's now been up more than an hour past her bed time, visiting downstairs every 20 minutes with eager updates on what is going on in the book and now has finished it. I let her stay up because yeah the book is that good. She asked if there were any more Twits books. Afraid not, but there are other Dahl books!
Book Review: This family is repulsive Summary: 5 Stars
This is far and away my favorite Dahl book. Disgustingy selfish and metastatically simpleminded, the TWITS resemble families I have met, and families i wish I could forget.Mostly they are judgmental, small-minded bigots and yet obliviously sure that the only way of looking at the world is THEIRS. Poor things! Wish I could work up some real sympathy for them! Mostly the enjoyment is allowing yourself to hate them, because the bible tells you you must'nt hate, and you feel a bit awful for dissing them, but well, they are the Twits, and they don't have a clue!! Delicious!
Book Review: The Twits is the best! Summary: 5 Stars
My kids absolutely wore out their paperback copy of The Twits, reading it so often that I ended up buying a hardcover to save money. I have read it three times myself, and ALWAYS laugh out loud while reading it. This is a short book, but typical of a Roald Dahl book, there is enough goofy humor here to gladden any heart. I always recommend this to people who have young children (particularly boys) with quirky senses of humor. A wonderful read-aloud book that is timeless.
Book Review: twits Summary: 5 Stars
Eventhough I've read fine pieces of literature this month , my absolute favorite was The Twits by Roald Dahl.
There are these two persons called Mr. and Mrs. Twits. They do practical jokes on each other. Like glass eyeball in a beer, squiggly spagetti, frog in the bed. those are sorts of pranks they do
on each other . Sure sometimes me and my brother do pranks on each other , but these ones are more wierder.
